Cell Reception at Anza Borrego campsites?

  • Guest, UPDATE We went through the site migration runbook and completed all steps. We will need to complete the migration next week, but will leave the forums up for the weekend. A few days after maintenance, a major upgrade revision to the forum site will occur.

Hey all, so I've never been to Anza Borrego and considering a weekend trip down there before it gets too hot and to see the wildflowers (I'm anticipating half of SoCal will be there this weekend). Now normally when I head to the desert it's to get away from cellphones but this weekend I need to be able to answer the phone for work through Saturday night. I've seen mixed reviews on RV websites regarding cell service at places like Rockhouse campground. Wondering if anyone on here has some recommendations for spots with decent cell service. LTE would be a bonus. We have a RTT and we don't need to be near facilities or anything. Sunday I wouldn't need cell service and so would be free to check out Sandstone canyon or some other more off grid areas. Any tips appreciated!

Cell reception in Anza is pretty bad, but getting better. We usually boondock, so no cell reception, but when we have spent a night at Palm Canyon Campground, the reception for ATT was very good.

Rockhouse ended up having some spots closer to the highway with a little bit of elevation that had good cell reception. It was close to the road to Font's point and one of the major wildflower blooms so that was a plus. However, if my phone had rang overnight I doubt I would have heard it due to the crazy wind noise in our rooftop tent! Next time we'll find a more sheltered, secluded spot.
