Sometimes you just have to get away so I loaded up the VW and took my whole family of 5 to Cockle Creek, 120km (75mi) to the south of where we live in Hobart.
Cockle Creek is in Tasmania's South-West National Park near the end of the most southerly road in Australia. Maybe not the adventure of getting to its northern counterpart (Cape York), It is well worth the trip.
The last 21km (13mi) from Ida Bay is on dirt.

We camped with tents a few metres from the vehicle, close to the beach, although there are other spots you can camp in a vehicle or trailer.

Mike who camped next to us had ridden his motorbike all the way from the UK.

I made the 2-hour bushwalk to South East Cape Bay, where you can see South East Cape the most southerly point. The point itself is very rough country so is not easily accessible. The air was hazy from bushfires even here, although we are a long way away.
