  • Guest, UPDATE We went through the site migration runbook and completed all steps. We will need to complete the migration next week, but will leave the forums up for the weekend. A few days after maintenance, a major upgrade revision to the forum site will occur.

In addition to the standard 7-pin trailer plug, I'm using an Anderson SBSX-75A plug with 4awg wires to recharge the battery system in my trailer while driving with max 800W from the alternator. I wanted this version of Anderson plug so I could have waterproof/dustproof connections for the trailer cable and on the bumper of my Jeep and it has metal catches on the side to keep the plugs wiggling loose from vibration. The SBSX connector also has the option to use four additional low current signal contacts in addition to the two high power contacts.

Has anyone used this style Anderson plug for any purpose, and if so, did you use the low current signal contacts? I was thinking to use it for an indicator inside the Jeep that the plug is connected, but I don't have any other ideas, so I may not use them and only wire in the power contacts.

I have not used those. I use a lot of the sb50 and the anderson powerpole connectors, and i have one sb150 for one of my solar chargers. The ones i have that have a low voltage goes to a small led light on the connector to show if its receiving power.

I love the anderson connectors, would definitely recommend them overjust about anything else. Im planning on putting an SB350 as a quick jump connection for the truck batteries.
