Asking what an overlanding set up costs.

Anyway, I actually get asked a lot what my rig costs, or "what I'm into it." I always answer totally honestly: "at this point, I have no idea, and I don't want to know."

I take it as a compliment, and if someone is generally interested and seems like they'd actually like to build something similar themselves, I try to expand on it. I've owned the truck ~16 years now (since new), and I don't think it's fair to count every dollar into it. It's lived many lives, and had different setups with parts that would add to the cumulative total, but aren't even on it anymore. I also generally suggest starting with a solid-axle rig, vs. doing a SAS unless you already have the truck, love it, and would never sell it (my case).

Just a follow up to my earlier post. Like I said, I don't think it's rude to ask how much my FWC setup costs. And the back of my camper has a bunch of stickers of places I've been. But as I was unpacking a new piece of gear for an upcoming trip, the manufacture's sticker fell out. So, my question is, "what do you think about covering your vehicle in free advertising for the brand of accessories you've added?" - my answer why? I'm not trying to show off that I have a certain brand of air compressor, or a certain brand of shocks, yada yada. I don't need people to see from 20 feet away what brand of recovery shackle's I've got buried in the box with my other recovery gear. If they want to come up and ask what some of stuff costs when they see it in use, fine, but what's with all the stickers? All my gear over the years has come with them, some with patches, but I don't use them and I don't see many people use them. Thoughts?
