Not sure if it's really necessary but it's a peace of mind when offroading or hard breaking for me
I’m with you for the support, and piece of mind. I feel it can give you some real flexibility also with spacing and other attachments.

Last week I gave my girlfriend a few lessons not about overlanding but just about the rig itself and how to check the basics !
It went pretty good and we had a really nice time together out there.

I’m buying a Subaru Forester for overlanding and as a day to day driver. Does anyone have any advise or anything like that?

I saw you had a tire valve core remover, but no spare valve cores, definitely a good cheap item to carry! I would also carry a decent basic Multimeter. I can highly recommend a Fluke 101, around $50US on ebay.

You are right ! Plus they are easy to loose or damage when offroading ! Added to the list
About the multimeter, I really need to read and learn a bit more about electrical car stuff, it's kind of a blurry subject for me right now ...
