I'm waiting for the big storm of 2019. I'm at fish camp general store because all the campsite were closed. Then the snow came and I slept good. 20190203_073310_HDR.jpg

5-18-19 found a campsite east if Visalia on the 198 above three Rivers called Buckeye Flat campground. Good for the family. The campsites were close to each other and the melting snow had that river flowing. There was flushing toilets for Mrs and for $22 a night it could be all yours. Had to hide the food because they had a Bear roaming around. It started to rain and people loaded their cars and left. It was empty by 830 am this morning. When the river settles I'm going to fish it. The Jerry can. Dang. Now it's a Jerry can't. I was just about to tell the wife this is a tight spot backing and tapped the tree and bent my can. Memories. If your running around look for me INTHEWOODS.IMG_20190519_113519817.jpgIMG_20190519_122857641_HDR.jpgIMG_20190519_112801703.jpgIMG_20190519_154459612.jpgIMG_20190519_113108522.jpg

Wow. I had a trip planned for Florence next weekend but that’s scrapped now, lol. Backup plan was some spots above Bass Lake, but thinking I’ll settle for a day trip next weekend.

Yeah all that snow came in January but 5-4-19 campsite was on the back road behind fishcamp snow park. It was nice in fishcamp this month. On 5-18-19 I got some hail that melted fast at 3000 ft yesterday above Visalia. Going back up this weekend above Visalia this weekend hopefully.

5-25 -19 I hope everyone had a great Memorial weekend whatever you chose to do. I just went camping and did a little camp clean up. Some of the campgrounds are going to be trashy so I hope OB members did there part and leaving it better than you found it. It rained on us which made more fun. A little rain INTHEWOODS makes everything better.IMG_20190526_185036554_HDR.jpgIMG_20190526_185116823_HDR.jpgResized_20190527_114329.jpeg

6-1-19 Went up the 198 east out of Visalia up the General highway to check out Lodge pole campground in the Kings Canyon national park and to check the snow level. The campsite where clean of snow but around and in the shade there was snow. Most of the campsites were closed due needing to clean up the trees and snow. The sites were to close to each other but they managed to squeeze in 119 spots. Rained ice when I got there and Sunday was nice till the afternoon it rained again..IMG_20190601_154745745_HDR.jpg
The snow line just above the campground which is around 6500ft.IMG_20190601_154630191_HDR.jpg
The wife suggested getting the tarp and I was like "who needs a tarp" it appears that I do.IMG_20190602_115037153_HDR.jpgIMG_20190602_115023459_HDR.jpg
Snow was plowed off to the side. It only got down to 36 degrees. I also learned that to the buddy heater needed more oxygen then I gave it so it didn't stay on. To darn tired to open a window. There is not a lot of primitive campsite around me so I been checking out these paved campsite. Fixing to checkout another campsite for some photos of bears maybe this weekend.

Yeah that's a fire ring. You go down a couple of feet to the level of the campsites and there is head room for a few people. I went to that campsite to clean up their mess. The camp host is only two spots over.

6-22-19 ok right now I'm up at Summerdale campground getting ready for dinner. Wowona was full so I tried here and got a site next to the creek. This located just above fishcamp but before the Yosemite south entrance. Nice tall trees provide nice shade. Tall trees always makes feel like I'm right at home INTHEWOODS.IMG_20190622_180641128.jpg

6-29-19 I went to a small campground called Atwell above Visalia which only had 25 sites at about 6.5 - 7k elevation. The evening was nice. There was a trail that cars would come up and hike. The road to this spot is about 19 miles of windy road about one and half wide or less in some spots. This the road to camp.IMG_20190629_122843857.jpgIMG_20190629_122820429.jpg
Nice one lane bridgeIMG_20190629_123950609.jpg
There is place to park and cool offIMG_20190629_133728718.jpg
Campground road Thur the treesIMG_20190629_200258934_BURST000_COVER_TOP.jpg
Even had some deer walk by. The next day I tracked them down and found a group with some bucks in itIMG_20190629_145824174_HDR.jpg
Yep, upgraded the tarp to a canopy. This place is a first come first served place so plan early and I drove up with no plans and got the last spot INTHEWOODS.
Today is 7-4-19 and heading up to Moanche Meadows right meow.

Ok accidentally hit the post button. The nights got down to 34, 36, and 38 and days in the low 80's. I go to Monache Meadows every year and going again the 1st weekend of November.IMG_20190704_163858907.jpg
About a mile on Sherman pass from the Johnson bridge was this washout taking half the road.IMG_20190705_191343636.jpg
We got camp set up for dinner by the fireIMG_20190704_204906236.jpg
Ok guys, she might like this set up.IMG_20190705_110159714.jpg
The river crossing to the Riverside campsites was flowing good and was about 30+ inches deep and kept most people from crossing which made for less campers on that side. I have 34.5 in tires and a 6in lift and the water was at my door rail. My video won't load.Resized_20190705_170324.jpeg
Even did some fly fishing and caught two troutIMG_20190707_125926417.jpg
if you were brave enough to cross the river you were granted full access to this custom bathroom with a 360 view of the woods.IMG_20190707_163957195_HDR.jpg
on the way back we went towards Kennedy Meadows and stopped at the general store which has some stuff and gas for $5. We dropped from 8500ft elevation to 6400 ft in 13 miles and dropped more real fast going towards hwy 395.
IMG_20190707_171241319.jpg
and ended our trip coming Thur Bakersfield back homeIMG_20190707_201021644.jpg

Ok I haven't went camping yet. I am having transmission problem and try to pin it down. Have no 1st. 2nd. & 5th. When I get back on the road I will be looking for more primitive campsite. There just not a lot around where I am so I will have to drive farther to some.

Ok I set a date to go to Monache Meadows again. It's November 1st to the 3rd trying to get in before they close the gate.
Anyone wanting to tag along is welcome too, just remembered you need 4x4, some clearance, and all supplies for the time out there including fuel. If you look on the Bigfoot website Monache Meadows is on there if want some reading material. My winter camping will be in January just not sure of the dates or where. Got to see where the snow falls. I'm not doing a rally point because I normally just go by myself but this time just throwing an offer out there.

Ok an update on Adventure Inthewoods. The Dodge Ram has been great for the last 10 years with little wants. But it's that season where everything wants to go out at the same time. We tracked the transmission problem to a few modules and valves and then the fuel pump goes out, my exhaust comes apart, thermostat goes to. A couple broken latches on the camper. Replaced door pins to. Some might say it's time to replace the old Dodge but I'm not ready for that yet. Getting an itch though. When you use it, not abuse it. Things just need to be replaced and I am going down that list and getting ready to take on the new year with more camping and some add on. I am one that when the thermostat goes out, I replace all hoses and save the old ones for parts. I will be inthewoods soon.
