Hello, my name's Brittain and I am completely going through a isuzu trooper to build as my new overland rig. I have have broncos, land cruisers, jeeps and trucks. This project peaked my interest because they are rugged and not as common. I will have to get some more photos put up soon. I have started by just replacing everything that cam be replaced. Seems simple, right?

Rebuilt motor, all new bushings, ball joints, hoses, brakes, and a OME suspension lift. You get the idea. If it can wear out I'm just putting a new one in. Let's just say rockauto loves me.
I work out of town so this might take a while.

Great site, I look forward to contributing and geting to make some new friends.

Hell yeah dude I'm excited to see how it will turn out. I had one when I was in my 20's and I took it everywhere. Please post pics of your build asbbnit progresses.

Thanks, I will get some progress pics up this week. Should have the front end back together this week and have started to tear apart the dash to get to the heater core.
 
I have always loved the looks of the troopers and really want to own one some day . They seem to just be the perfect size and with their tall body just have a massive amount of interior space . keep up the good work

Finished with the front suspension today. Also while I was at the junkyard found a very nice dash pad to replace mine. Pulled the heating core to check for leaks and clean it out today as well. I have a built up 3.4L that will be going back in soon I hope. I would like to clean up and paint the engine bay before that happens. Since it is an older rig some of the wiring could use a little love for sure. Now I just have to go through the trans and transfer case to make sure they are up to snuff.
I have a new low gear for the transfer case as well that should help with the 4x4 crawling duties.

This is awesome, I love seeing the older trucks getting built. I have a 93 pathfinder/terrano (depending on your country) that I’m slowly building up for touring. Like you I work away from home so I don’t get to spend too much time on the truck. Also I feel you on the wiring. Someone has made and absolute mess of my truck.

Wow. Been a bit since my last update. Truck is up and running (kinda) needs all the interior put back in. I'm building bumpers and rock sliders for it now. I will get some pictures up soon.
 
Awesome man. I LOVE Isuzus, unfortunately I got out of the Isuzu game when parts started getting hard to find. Respect to you for this build. If you have any questions drop me a PM. I went through my 90 Trooper bumper to bumper.

Great to see this. I had an 89 Trooper back then. Before it was called overlanding I had done basics to be useable/survivable in that way; tires, lights, comms, kits/bags/storage setup. Not sure of any pics, they'd be stored somewhere on film :laughing:. But it worked for me all over the country, coast to coast while I was on active duty. Loved it, ran it until repairs cost too much well after it was paid off.
