2019 Subaru Outback DIY Rack

I am planning on building a diy flat rack out of unistrut/superstrut and mounting it to my factory crossbars.
My plan is to mount it with the C-channel facing upward so can have adjustable crossmembers and adjustable eyebolts for tie downs.

Has anyone here built their rack out of unistrut and have any suggestions?

I had crossbars made from superstrut for a while. I changed the setup a little, but still use a piece of it to mount my awning. It works well generally. I painted mine black with some primer and auto bumper spray paint. It held up better than I thought. My advice is use lock washers on all your fasteners
