Started this build thread after I had become an OB member, and had started making modifications. Ever heard the phrase, buy once cry once? I had but didn't take it to heart. I made a few mistakes, but thankfully, I learn fast.

I wanted to be conservative on my build...and went with a 4" lift instead of 6"

Well, I recently put down a deposit on the parts for the upgrade to the 6" after learning that the 4" kit gave me less ground clearance than the vehicle had totally stock. Oh the agony...

Bought a lift for my ramcharger and I couldn't take the body mount bolts off so I had to trim the quarter panel

Went cheap on a chip tuner for my old '05 GTO. Bricked the ECU, had to get a new one. Whoops...

I had nearly forgotten about this, but about 15 or so years ago I had paid to have the boost increased on he turbo in a VW I had. Some time later, the turbo exploded lmao.

Fun while it lasted...

It took a lot of digging, phone calls and research, but I managed to figure out how to change my 4" kit into a 6" Stage 2 kit with coilovers and adjustable rear shocks; without buying a new kit.

It's been about a month since I ordered the parts, but got the call today that everything arrived and now have the shop date set for Jan 4th!

I replaced the LT reflector housings with projector housings from a Silverado High Country

It's a pretty easy job, under an hour, if you watch a few YouTube videos first. There are a few tricky and hidden fasteners.

Mission accomplished, I now have 10" of ground clearance on 33" tires, and the ride is greatly improved.

Had a chance to get out to the local OHV park this weekend to test out the new suspension. Wow, what a difference over the 4" kit. Should have went with the Stage 2 6" kit from the beginning.

If you're thinking about going with bigger tires make sure your measure the front really well. The wheel wells don't leave a lot of clearance when turning. Learned that the hard way.

It is looking a bit like a skateboard on those 33s lol

Made another change to the rear lift blocks, adding another inch to make the ride height a little better looking. I also added Firestone air helper springs for when the bed is loaded down with all that overlanding gear.

I noticed a little change to the ride, but I can't say for sure if it's the additional inch to the lift or the air helper springs, since they were done at the same time. I'll be experimenting with PSI settings and read shock adjustment over the next few weeks.

Hey there! Fellow 'Overado' driver...also fellow Texan. Good looking truck...have 6" lift and roll with BFG KO2 tires---definitely recommend them (the tires). Are you in any of the Texas overland groups?

"Overado" Yes! Lol

I recently joined the Lone Star Overland group on Facebook. Their next trip is Feb 18, but I'll be in Louisiana that weekend and won't be able to join them.

My next big trip will be in June, and will be with New Mexico Backroads...highly recommended and will be my 2nd trip with them.
