Here's my 2015 Rav4 XLE. It has a 2" lift and I have built a sleeping platform and pull out kitchenette in the back. I used to live in Northern California and had plenty of access to public land and roads but since we moved to Texas it is much harder to find places to explore. We mainly travel to State Parks and the gulf to hike and explore. My son is finally old enough to enjoy hiking but our one year old goes home or to hotels with momma.

I cannot allow my wife to see this post. Her RAV4 is bone stock and she wants a lift & bigger AT tires. That would mean wrenching for me. Please delete this post. LOL !!! When you get a chance go across your state to the big bend region. Lots of gravel and dirt roads that your RAV4 could easily traverse.

Haha bigger tires are next for sure. I want to make the trip out there, hopefully next spring!

Update: I full time overlanded out of my RAV4 from Texas, through the south west, through California and up through the north/midwest. I have been building it up for better trips and had the perfect opportunity through work to live out of it.

I removed the front passenger seat, installed storage and put a bed on top. I installed a diesel heater in the spare tire well and ran it off a Yeti 3000x, it was perfect for cold snowy nights! My 270 Body Armor4X4 was my living room and kitchen with a GSI camp table and Blackstone. I showered every night in my kickass shower awning using a basic rechargeable shower head and weathertech floor mat as a shower floor. Last March I upgraded the rear springs to 3rd gen springs (added 1 inch of lift and more heavy duty for my extra weight from all my stuff).

It was an amazing experience and I loved almost every minute of it!
