Happy New Year everybody! Wishing all of you a very healthy and prosperous 2019.
I am doing research on a diesel conversion for my overland vehicle as stated in the header. Looking for the most bang for my buck. To me, the ideal swap would be an R2.8 repower from Cummins backed with a 6 speed or better automatic trans finished with an NP242 or similar transfer case. Well, we can dream, can't we? the price is very much a big factor here and I am exploring all options here that can supply the power and torque to move my rig. with a curb weight of 4600 lbs. it is comparable to a Toyota F80 or Landrover disco which have been repowered with an R2.8.
I would appreciate any input from any of you to help me come up with an affordable combination.
