I was told by some SoCal over landers that I couldn’t overland because I have a 2 Wheel Dr. truck is this true

Bear in mind, there are times when people venture out to areas “recommend” 4WD. There are a few places I go here in southern NV that I won’t take people unless they do have 4WD. But that is the exception to the rule. Most of the time a high clearance vehicle, like the one you have, is more than capable.

I'd also like to ad that a 4WD rig with ope front and rear diffs are still essentially 2WD... so a 2WD truck with a locker can go almost anywhere a 4WD can go if they don't have lockers.
