There have been several 5.0+ Earthquakes and lesser aftershocks from Mammoth Lakes down to Searles Valley, does anyone know of any damages along 395? DG

I hadn't heard about that quake. I looked it up and it said it was only a 2.8. doubt there's any damage. Caltrans would have updates if there was an issue.
Here's a road condition link

Hi Scott, The post stands. First Quake originally reported on my app at 6.1, and was down-graded. The USGS.gov site has been very active today. Even Stanley, Idaho had a 2.8 aftershock. DG

I didn't doubt our post. I had the impression you wanted road conditions which I linked for you.
As you can see looking at what you linked, there were several with two matching the quick search I did. I'm surprised I didn't see the big one. Large quakes in that area are of concern to me because of Mammoth. I have friends up there and I normally would have gotten a text. I asked one of my friends and his reply was "oh yea, the ground shook a little." I wasn't concerned any more.
Living in a state that has quakes all the time, the local news tends to gloss over them unless something bad happens.
Sorry to upset you.

Morning Scott,
Thanks for the CalTrans link. You didn't upset me. I was seeking local input, as we (OB) have members in the area. When the Nevada quake happened it broke pavement.

I use this really cool app for earthquakes for several years now,. You can set specific geographic notification.

395 near Searless Lake has been having earthquakes for several months ranging from 1.4 to 5+.

Been trying to find new Earthquake Faults

I was in the eastern sierras all week and only felt one and there was zero damage that I saw to the trails I did. Kavanaugh Ridge, Horse Meadow, Walker lake, June/Mammoth, Laurel Lake, Buttermilk, Coyote flats, Alabama Hills, Moncahe Meadows.

Between the wife and I (mainly the wife) we have about 3 or 4 earthquake apps. Never really saw the need for then in our part of the world - Kansas - but DANG, earthquake activity is on the rise in Kansas and has been for the past many years. It's gotten so bad people are now adding earthquake coverage to their insurance policies. We've even had damage to our house, mainly ceilings.

Hope all is ok around Lone Pine. We traveled through there in February (south from Lake Tahoe) and spent a few days at Lone Pine and Alabama Hills - great area and a fantastic museum about movie history in the area. A must see for Overlanders. ?? Maybe the Death Valley is getting lower? Also a must see area.
