    Vans as overlander vehicles

Looks like they do sell them here. Ive heard a bit about VWs newer electronics being a bit dodgy but it sounds like you've had good experiences with them. I've liked their stuff any time I've had a chance to drive them.

    Vans as overlander vehicles

Yeah, they seem to be pretty common workhorses everywhere that's not the US. Weirdly there doesn't seem to be a developed market for smaller 4x4 vans here.

    Vans as overlander vehicles

I've heard it called a few different things. I think it's got different names in ifferent countries

    Vans as overlander vehicles

There's a van Mitsubishi makes that's a bit tough to find in the states that makes a good camping/adventure vehicle. The Delica I think? It's a 4x4 diesel. Used to see clones of them all over the mountains in southern China. Someday I want to find an old one and fix it up. Here's one kitted...

    Foraging wild food

I take walks with one of the biotechs at the park I work at who has a pretty solid knowledge of some of our local species. It's a real help to get started with folks who do this stuff regularly. Ran across wild strawberries, mulberry, elderberry, burdock, cattail, and american groundnut just...

    Scuba

I'm thinking later summer I might grab some friends and go get some more certs and do a refresher of my open water. I've been out of it way too long. I've been meaning to get my drysuit cert just because the water up here gets reaaaal cold. Also I've got a buddy who has been inviting me to go...

    Foraging wild food

Buddy of mine gave me a few books on this a bit back and we've been hiking around looking at what stuff is edible in our area. One was the old standby "chasing the wild asparagus", which is more stories and some ideas on stuff that grows out this way and the other was a more scientific guide...

    Puttering around Acadia

Forgot my actual camera, so only had my phone for the weekend. Even with time and my camera in working order I probably couldn't do this place justice. It's incredibly beautiful. After the morning hiking along the loop we headed down to the beach to follow some trails that were a little more...

What is the last thing you bought and plan to buy?

picked up surco mounting hardware for the roof basket I picked up second hand, also picked up a crkt tomahawk on a friends rec. Usually I just keep a carpenters hatchet because hatchet + hammer has always been useful, but I figured I'd switch it up for once. Also grabbed some gorilla mudflaps...

Eastern Mass Monthly Meetup - 06/15/2017

Should be good. It's just up the road from me, but I'm good with wherever it ends up.

    Roof basket suggestions?

I found an old surco safari basket on craigslist, unfortunately the guy didn't have the mounting hardware anymore. I'll scrape and repaint it with bedliner, but then I have to find some ubolts that'll fit it on to the rails I've got. Not real sure surco makes mounts that work with my forester...

    Any vegan overlanders out there?

Happy to help. Trail grub is important. Got to keep the calories up.

    Any vegan overlanders out there?

Advantage of a good bean salad is it's pretty easy to pack and keeps well. All the pre ingredients for pea soup can also be dehydrated, measured, and stuck in bags. Also, I'm not 100% certain, but I think trader Joe's has vegan friendly Indian food packets that don't need refrigeration. Again...

    Any vegan overlanders out there?

Not personally, but I have a buddy who did a tofu scramble breakfast burrito thing that was very solid. Think tofu scramble + bean salad with red onions, green onions, tomatoes + greens + hot sauce. Never been one for vegan cheese, but if there's a kind you like I'm sure that'll go well in...

    Scuba

Yeah, it's expensive. I usually rent most of the big stuff. Though to be honest, if I start doing it more regularly I may invest in a dive computer because they make planning your depth/time a lot easier. Like, I chart everything out on paper and do my times with a watch now, but one of my...

    Scuba

If it's not broke, no need to fix it. New fins and mask are on my list, because tragically the last set broke! My father used to dive back around then too, we had a big sack full of all his gear for the longest time. Sadly he got rid of it, else I'd likely be stealing his weight belt.

    Scuba

Anyone here a diver? I got my open water from Padi a while back and I've puttered on a couple dives since then. I've been meaning to get a few more certs and start exploring. It's a little harder now that I don't live in a place with clear waters though.

    Overlanding is not Elitist!
