    Let them eat SPAM!

Grew up with SPAM on Guam in the 1960s. Still get the craving occasionally. Opened a can last week and made grilled cheese and spam sammiches two says in a row.

    Alternative Heat Options

I can dig it. For the number of times a year I might use it, let's say 3 or 4 in a good year right now, it doesn't make sense to spend a ton of money (900$(US)) on a Wabsto or the other German one. I just HATE buying anything from China.

    Alternative Heat Options

Diesel heaters seem to be the rage. I want one powered by propane. Not Mr. Buddy, but a unit similar to the torpedo Chinese diesel heaters. My googling has proved fruitless. Is there such a thing? Much thanks.

    Overlanding Raptor Build

That sucks. If there are laws in Oklahoma no one enforces them. My friend did get a ticket for having all his lights on while on a paved street (8 lights if i remember correctly). But there was no concern about covers.

I hope to get out. OKC Overland is planning a short trip on January 22nd. I'm also looking for other trips.

I have 3 options. Which should I start with?

I'm with Nickel. I try to keep my load out simple. I even sleep in my vehicle so I don't need a tent. It may take a few trips to sort out your kit. But you won't sort it in the driveway. Until you actually start going out you won't know what is superfluous.

I have 3 options. Which should I start with?

I think this is pretty obvious. The Mrs. is not gonna dig you taking her rig on a week long trip to where ever without her and getting it stinky and dirty and scratched. I go out in my F150 Super Cab. Its nice having all the luxury. But is my daily driver and is really too big for the really...

What is the Quintessential Camp Food?

Bustabeatgeorge posted a youtube video that had a shot of some breakfast burritos that looked like they were delicious. Chorizo and eggs it looked to me.

What is the Quintessential Camp Food?

I don't think I've gone out and didn't have a steak and fried potatoes at least on one night. That was sirloin and tri-tip medallions if I remember correctly. Yeast rolls are new to the menu too. Rigged up an oven of sorts with two brownie pans and heat them up on the 1963 Coleman. Yes...that's...

    Camp Photos!

Here in Oklahoma our pool water was still 88F this weekend. We had a cold front come in Sunday. It dropped down to 93F today.

Do you keep a knife or hatchet/axe in your rig?

I try to cover ALL the bases for plants and animals: Spetsnaz shovel - sharp as an ax Hand ax - cheap no brand for firewood Machete - small brush (WW2 surplus from my time on Guam) Hand saw - just started carrying this, used surprisingly often Knives Fillet knife for fishing Kabar Kitchen...

    Camp Photos!

Went out in January 2021 with my buddy Larry. The Range Rover Classic is still being restored, so I took the F150 out. Drove around the southwest part of Oklahoma. Ended up camping at a Wildlife Management site, Lake Hall. We had the entire lake to ourselves except for a skunk that wandered too...

    Let them eat SPAM!

Sorry to hear about your cancer Lanlubber. My first years were spent living on Guam during the Vietnam War. We ate a lot of SPAM. If supply ships were slow to the island, you ate whatever was on the shelves. I fried some up for my kids when they got old enough to eat it. It was a good day for me...

    Trailer Identification

You know what they look like to me...Just kidding.... I think it goes without saying they will need to be chucked. I don't see what JC is driving in his profile but whatever it is, those trailer wheels and tires need to match the wheels and tires on his rig.

You know what that looks like to me? A good starting place for a trailer build. Great find.
