We will be heading to Pyramid Lake on Saturday, hoping to arrive late Sunday. Need to be in St George, Utah on the 21st, so not much time to do much but fish the lake for a few days... If you get up here, stop in my fly shop. I'm normally here, unless I'm not. At that point in my career were my...

    Fly Fishing

Looking for some Nevada OB members that have a little insight to Pyramid Lake in the coming weeks. We're departing OR on the 16th, and heading off to the south. Plan on a couple days at Pyramid before heading into Utah. I've fished it before in March, but need to line up ladders... any ideas...

Spent the afternoon fabricating a panel to place in the side window of our Project M to allow attaching my diesel heater inlet hose/power source. We have a winter fishing trip to the Metolius coming up in a few weeks and want to stay warm at night.

Member Introductions *NEW MEMBERS INTRODUCE YOURSELF*

Ok, not a “new” member, but it’s been a long time since I’ve logged in, like several years. Life changes will do that. I’ve still been adventuring, but my focus has been on healing. Remarried 4 years ago and my bride is my constant companion. We had to start last year off looking for a new fly...

Been away from here awhile. Had to start over with a new rig after meeting a cedar tree in the ice last year. 2023 Tundra with 4 Wheel Camper Project M. Love the extra space and we logged 30 days in the last 6 months. My old 4Runner took 7 years to build, the Tundra took 11 months. Hello to all!

Post pictures of your camp kitchen

My original post was way back in 2018 (page 4 or 5 of this thread) and I wanted to update as I've been away from OB.... I've been using the kitchen regularly for fishing trips, adventures, and parking lot lunches at my fly shop. My new bride and I did manage to escape the NW fires last fall and...

    Legal Weapons and Overlanding

I travel alone so I carried a Sig 225 under my arm and a can of bear spray open carry. Bear spray can be worse than a 9mm hole in some cases. Added a Sig 365 this week for concealed carry so the 225 will be locked up. Cougars have gotten more common where I travel, and tweakers. Bear spray works...

    Backroad Still lifes

Short days and long nights allow me to add to this collection of backroad photos, although Newport Oregon is far from being a backroad town. Still, early morning photo adventures are productive and worth sharing.

    Nature Photos

Life is slowing down a little as the "hang on leaves" start to fall. Time to go through the images of the year and share a few.

    Fly Fishing

December is just a click away and my life is going to get real busy as the shop goes full on Christmas. I've packed a lot of fly-fishing adventures into this year and still might get a day or two on the water before the New Year. I love fall here in Oregon as I hit the Rogue, Deschutes...

    Ghost towns in Oregon

I've been poking around back roads in Oregon tracing family history. Central Oregon has a lot of abandoned homesteads and "towns" to explore. Shaniko is probably the easiest to get to and it tried to be a tourist town, but the guy that owns the hotel (wealthy newspaper guy that came in and...

Post pictures of your camp kitchen

I did a kitchen remodel over the winter and have now used it for a full season and love it. Favorite features are the countertop and pantry drawer... and utensil drawer...and stove slide....ok, I love it all. The Cook Partner stove is awesome and a big improvement over my Coleman. Heat control...

    Fly Fishing

Summer has kept me busy chasing fish, exploring Oregon, and away from this forum, but thought I'd share this... Trout Unlimited and the Native Fish Society held a "Native Trout-a-thon" this past week to bring awareness about native trout populations, inspire anglers to explore our state, and...

Would you choose Oregon or Colorado?

6 Gen Oregonian, grew up in very nice part of Portland, but I don't recognize it anymore. The streets, the people, the attitude, the vibe have all changed with the influx of transplants. I don't blame anyone for wanting to live here, it was a great place to grow up. Crime forced us to move. Car...

    Fly Fishing

It doesn't hurt that I own a fly shop or am close friends will several domestic reel makers and like to support US manufacturers. Kristen Mustad @ Nautilus is a great guy and builds an awesome reel. I just had him make me a couple custom trout reels for this same trip... I have a bunch of his...

    Fly Fishing

I know it's a last minute posting, but any of you Washington anglers with nothing to do might want to swing by Manchester State Park this weekend. My shop crew is hosting a bunch of our customers/friends for a few days of beach fishing. We're blowing out of here in about an hour and should roll...

    Fly Fishing

I spent some time poking around northern NH near Back Lake. The upper Connecticut and the streams around Pittsburg, NH were filled with Trout that would take a fly. There were plenty of shops in the area that could point you in the right direction...although some have passed into memory...
