How far from Denver are you willing to travel? There are some good low country places to camp this early but they're going to be a good 2-3 hours from Denver at least. The high country will still have snowpack and it still gets very cold in the mountains at night this time of year.

Yeah, just go with the crossbars. If going Rhino Rack get the HD over the vortex. The vortex and HD are technically both rated for the same weight, but the HD bars flex/bounce less. No need to worry about bar aerodynamics when it's going to be under a big RTT.

Looking at the Smittybilt X20 10K as well, but don't like that you have to cut the rope or hook to add a new hook. To be honest though, all these made in China winches look the same and the RC is ~$100 cheaper.
