    Anything from tool bags to ammo cans work. I find that hard cases work best to preserve gear, but soft pouches like military IFAKs stow away easier. If you really wanna be fancy ($$$$) pelican cases are the business. Waterproof too!

    I’m on the central coast too, Even though there’s some trails in big sur, The better overlanding is in the Sierra. I did Jawbone canyon to Lake isabella and had a good time. Btw, Mendocino is nowhere near the central coast, but if youre up there, look up Usal Rd.
