Haven't done a whole lot with the Jimmy lately other than occasionally driving it to work. We bought a 1990 Coleman popup camper and took it out a few times this fall with the family. Wouldn't call it "overlanding", but camping's camping! Especially with three kids (and one on the way).
I did...
Definitely keep this one! I always wanted and OBS but didn't want to deal with smog here in Phoenix... Much easier to get an OBD2 1996+ to pass. Stance looks great, steelies and big tires ftw!
I'm a Mazda Stan...
Loved my 2015 CX-5 I bought new when we only had one kid, but traded it in when the used car market was high on a new Explorer. That AWD 2.5 CX-5 crossover would get 31 on the highway if I babied it, the 3 and 6 can definitely do better.
I ended up buying a 2010 Mazda 6 for...
Thanks! It would be hard to get rid of this truck, it's been great for the last decade. Lots of miles and memories too, took my wife on our first date in it actually.
Yup I have the lift gate. Usually wishing I had the tail gate model, especially because I can't seem to find shocks stiff enough...
IT'S MAINTENANCE TIME
Drove the old girl to my dad's shop with the goal to fix the MANY oil leaks that this truck has and tear apart the transfer case to investigate a marbles-in-a-can noise I have when in 2wd.
Truck is getting:
-Timing cover and gasket
-High volume oil pump
-Oil pan gasket...
Quick update, finally found my shovel mount brackets I had lost in the move. Threw them on with a new shovel, and bolted a section of unistrut on the tire carrier in order to mount my traction boards in preparation for an overnight trip in the mountains. Truck looked good and the china trasharoo...
Thanks! Yeah this 4.3 has been super reliable and very torquey. I almost bought a first gen Explorer before I bought this, better off road chops and 33s with minor lift.... but besides the engine the promise of easy troubleshooting of OBD2 was too tempting. Prior car was OBD1 and I spent too...
Drove up into the Mazatzals for an overnight trip with my older two kids and a few buddies (@bawesomfels @Cvits ). It was colder than we expected but me and the kids were warm in the back of the Jimmy! Lake Roosevelt is the body of water in the second image. Snow covered mountain is Browns Peak
Well it's been over a year and l've gotten only a few things done with the Jimmy... But more importantly got my life sorted out a bit. Bought a house, got a new job that isn't 24/7 on call, and (most importantly to this build) bought a new daily driver. The Jimmy has officially been upgraded...
Spotted this Wednesday afternoon in Arizona, Highway 87 northbound. I waved but was driving my wife's car and blended in with traffic lol. Saw the badge on the fender.
Weird pic didn't load on OB1
I know there was a similar thread about the "read more" function but I don't mind the multiple clicks, my issue is when click the back arrow it boots me up to the top of the page. Which then means have to scroll down to find my place after I read each response which becomes very tedious.
I am...
Alrighty Ben I'll post too... (and include you in one of my pics)

What a clean SUV and a nice build!
I wish I wasn't so stuck on buying American when I picked up my Jimmy, I didn't know what I was missing with these sweet Japanese rigs.
Last few months has been pretty Maintenance heavy for the whole fleet.... Trying to get our Expedition to pass emissions, fixing wiring in my wife's Mazda (rats got in the engine bay), and confirmed a rear main seal leak on the Jimmy.... The trans will eventually come out to fix that (and likely...
3M tape is great! That's an interesting solution for a vehicle with no factory roof rack.
Thanks for the reply! Nice that it slid right in to factory roof rack bars.
Updated my original post with higher resolution pics. Love OB1 but I guess I have to mess with photo quality settings, checked...
