    Gear to recieve Alerts?

Yesterday morning started as a great day. Woke up in a beautiful location with bats flying overhead, the quiet gurgle of a nearby river, and a beautiful sky. We started a small fire to sit around while we made our coffee and ate some donuts. As we sat there looking across the valley, we say an...

    Awning Care?

Which 303? I've got a couple that I use for other things, like 303 Fabric Guard for waterproofing shoes/boots/jackets, and 303 UV Protectant that I use for my dash.

    Awning Care?

What do you do to care for your vehicle mounted awning? Is there a cleaning regimen that you use? Specific products that work well? Do you ever treat your awning to maintain waterproof levels?

What is the last thing you bought and plan to buy?

Lack of sun (more like prevalence of clouds) is the predominant issue. Even on nice days, it feels like the tree canopy does it's best to limit how well solar works up here. I currently have a 100w panel connected to a small (12AH, I think) battery in a box with some USB ports a voltage meter...

    NW Florida

I gotta ask, since I just got a fridge. Is your 2 days on 90ah your real-world experience with your set up, or is that the math "guesstimates"? I'm trying to plan capacity for my setup, and while I've been told my fridge uses about 60 watts while the compressor is running, I haven't been able to...

What is the last thing you bought and plan to buy?

Last thing bought was a new sleeping bag and a fridge. My last trip was in colder weather than normal and I got colder than I like when sleeping, so I finally decided to do something about it. The fridge is something that I've been wanting to do for quite a while, and the time hit where it was...

    Telescopic Awning 1.0

How about cutting some kind of "finger notch" on the ends of the larger exterior tube, to make it easier to grab the inner extension? Or, setting it up so the inside sticks out by 1" when the retention pin is in place?

    Hard Shell Roof top tent

There is a guy by the name of Patrick Remington on YouTube who decided to build his own. He has two versions currently on his channel, one being clamshell style, and the other being the more boxy style, like a James Baroud. At some point he started getting enough questions, comments, and ideas...

DIY "SOLAR GENERATOR" with Victron Mppt

This is great! I've got a basic setup that is similar to yours, although not as well built or thought out. I'm working now on my 2.0 version to be more functional and more efficient.

tent storage, fold and roll or stuff?

Interesting question, and the answer I found is not what I expected. Eureka recommends stuffing for transport, but a loose roll not in the bag for storage. That keeps the folds from becoming creases, and allows the fabric to breath better when in storage. They do recommend covering the loose...

    What is your EDC Flashlight?

These days, I have about three that I'm rotating through. The light you will most commonly find in my pockets is my Lumintop Tool AAA light (in the middle), usually with a NiMH rechargeable in it. While the battery may not last a long time and it's not the brightest, it does a great job for...

The official OTO "Ozark Trail Overland" gear thread!

Here's one of my most prized possessions. Yes, it's Ozark Trail, but my grandkids mean the world to me, and I can't wait to hear them out on the woods with me. Sent from my SM-G935T using OB Talk mobile app

I want to know how the dual-fuel model is working out? I've got a butane model, but have been interested in doing the propane.

    $12 headliner

My old XJ had the headliner sagging problems and I finally pulled it out, and used some color matched thread to hand sewed the fabric to head fiberglass. Never had a problem with it again, but it certainly didn't look as nice as what you have done.
