Backstory:
Every year a group of guys I went to high school with and myself go on an annual camping trip. We've done backpacking, canoe camping, overlanding ect.
On of the guys is having some health issues (we're all in our 50's) so this year we need to reign it in and commit to just a simple...
To the cool guy in the Tacoma who was smart enough to bring a bag of misc nuts and bolts, and cool enough to let me have one when my Gobi Rack vibrated a pivot nut loose in Death Valley....
Huge Thanks and I hope the Pliney went down smooth.

CCW in my county is a no go. The Sheriff will not only deny you, but if by some miracle you manage to convince him you're worthy... he'll release your name and address to the news paper.
I have a JKU and am pretty happy with my rig. I'd like bigger tires, but that would hinder my everyday ability. I put on a caged roof rack so I can actually carry enough supplies for the family for a few days, but that has decreased my gas milage and highway speeds. I compromised daily comfort...
This breaks my heart. I go camping with my two girls all the time. Not being able to enjoy nature with them isn't an option. CA gun laws are so ridiculous that trying to prepare myself would make me a felon.
Well, Moab is mind blowing. Our trip was cut short because of work so I only got one day to play. We did Hurrah Pass and were going to do Chicken Corners but everyone was exhausted from the travel an heat. Decided to call it a day and not push it.
We'll be visiting family in Colorado and have decided to spend a few days in Moab.
What do I need to know and what trails should I stick to so my poor wife doesn't have a heart attack on me.
I'm in a capable Jeep but her cousins might join us in a stock 4 Runner. Just looking for some easy low...
I just got back a Mojave Road adventure. You;ll have a blast. I was concerned about the water crossing as well. I extended all my breathers but had no snorkel. I made it and it went fine but a buddy took a video and things came a little closer than I realized. I have a Jeep with a 2inch lift and...
I live in CA and, to the best of my knowledge, you can travel with firearms as long as they are properly locked away when driving (unless you have a conceal permit). Once you're at the campsite, that is considered your domicile and you can have a loaded gun in your tent. That's what I was told...
Probably won't be going down anytime soon. Just grab a buddy and go. Now is a great time of year. It can get cold at night in higher elevations so prepare. Daytime temps were in the 70's. T-Shirt and Shorts.
It was helpful only in the sense that I knew what I was doing a little more. Knowing what to bring and what to expect was all that was gained. If you're an experienced Overlander and / or camper then you'll be fine.
This was my second time there but the first time for the family. I've been acquiring gear for the trip and feel pretty good about the rig and setup.
Myself, the wifey, two 11 year olds and a Staffy made the journey with some friends for three nights of Death Valley in it's glorious splendor...
Gobi Stealth Rack, Driver's & Passenger Moryde Side mounts carrying 2x 2 Gallons of water on one side and 2 Gallons of Gas on the other. I'm digging the RotoPlax stuff. Pricey but the modular design lets you get specific to the trip at hand.
