    Reattaching the OB emblem

Burn it off! That'll give the badge a nice patina. ::evil grin::

    Stickers

That looks familiar! Those were taken five years ago, so there's more now. I also have a bg of assorted stickers in one of the drawers that I never stuck anywhere.

    Steve's Cross-Country Subaru Outback

@Byron Eby Sorry for any confusion on the other thread. When I said I connected directly to the battery, I meant I connected the OPT7 wiring harness directly to the battery. The harness came with a fuse block and relay, so there is a relay in the wiring. As for the glowing switch; remember the...

Thanks! Yep, wired direct to the battery via a Mickey Mouse supposed to be temporary but still there method shown on page 5 of my build thread, here: Steve's Cross-Country Subaru Outback I'd be happy to answer any questions on the install over on that thread.

I have the clamps set tight enough that it doesn't flop down, but loose enough that it swivels down by hand. I've used it at speeds up to 45 MPH with the fairing straight forward without any flopping up or down. One time I accidentally left it down and drove 140 miles on highway and interstate...

    Let's talk about the weather...

I know that some of you have already had to dig out quite a bit of snow and Little Tykes vehicles (I'm thinking of your daughter, @stringtwelve ) Well, we're just getting our first snow with any accumulation here in northern Ohio this morning. This will make heading Florida in a few weeks so...

    Proud papa!

Congratulations! You're life will change forever, now. Your heart strings will be yanked every which way, and you'll experience emotions you never new were possible. It is both a wonderful and scary thing, and you'll love every second of it. Best wishes to you, Mom and Roy (my paternal...

    Cricket Trailer

I had been looking at teardrops for the past several years, and even considered buying a used one to take all of our daughter's stuff out to Seattle in September. But not being able to do much of anything inside means Deb wouldn't go anywhere with me pulling it. (Which could be a good thing...

    Cricket Trailer

Deb and I spent eight hours at the Cleveland RV Show yesterday. Some of those places are nicer than our home, and we were in one that the show savings were more than we paid for our house! One of the neater ones we saw was a Cricket Trailer, a really solidly built 1500 pound camper that sets up...

    Wrecked my baby Update:

Sorry to hear that, Jordan. Take your time in finding a replacement to make sure it has everything in order, and doesn't have any of the shortcomings you may have found in the time you've had yours. Good luck, Steve

How to Start a Fire - Collected Wisdom

I have redundant sources of fire available, but don't always have all in the vehicle with me. These have been accumulated ideas from years of backpacking, car camping, hiking, etc. steel wool and a 9-volt battery dryer lint in old medicine bottle vaseline soaked cotton balls Crisco soaked...

Building, Driving and Adventuring the MTN4RNR

It was warmer in the truck with the heater going full blast! And just like Subaru last spring, we were about $5,000 apart on the value of my Outback. (And the sheet they showed me to justify that had two cars just like mine with 2 and 3 times the mileage for sale for more than I asked...) and...
