Might be time to buy a water sprayer! A chemical applicator bottle is nice and cheap or you can do a Nemo Helio shower which collapses up nicely when not needed. You can spray a lot of the mud out of the radiator.

If I was using the 3" holes I'd leave them as is but if I stick with the 2" holes then the extra length is an eye sore. No problems with pinion angle on your rig?
