Yes, it is. The same one discussed in the OutdoorX4 article. When we went to Door County several years ago, we considered doing it, but never did. We'll definitely be taking it this time when we go. The worst part, is it only sails once a day, so we'd *have* to have reservations. I don't like...
No firm plans yet, but this is something we've been considering for this year, and talking to Cody yesterday (@MidwestOverlanders) it brought it back to the forefront.
Basic route we have in mind, with a lot of changes and additions to be made before the actual trip. This was just a quick...
This is an interesting topic, and one I'll be sure to follow. Wind generators have been a mainstay (pun intended) on long distance sail boats for decades. I'd think that technology could easily be scaled for more portable use.
I'm not sure I like the Thule Hull-a-Port Pro that far out, but it's needed if I'm squeezing the extended Yakima LoadWarrior between them. The Outback used two separate rack configurations.
I'll try the basket up there tomorrow when Deb is here to help. We gotta pick up a Costco 3-step...
I took a GOB of photos today, after getting the Outback stripped of all the stuff I'm removing, and having it detailed. Figured I'd post a link here for anyone bored enough to look through 87 images. :) I know no one here is interested in buying it, but y'all have seen it getting put together...
@Correus I was thinking slightly smaller than the Overland Bound Badge, so there would be no basket visible. But I'm not thinking of just sticking the badge on the back of the 4Runner like I had on my Outback.
Thanks!
Transmission hunting constantly, vibrations at 30-40 MPH,and slipping transmission were some that I remember most.
Definitely not trying to rain on your parade. I just wanted you to be informed.
@benmmc I sure hope this doesn't delate your balloon, but from what I've read, there sure have been a lot of people having problems with the new Taco! Several new folks on T4R.org sold or traded theirs after a very short time and got 4Runners.
Congratulations, I hope! Beautiful looking truck!
@John Galt Great trip and report! Too bathe weather didn't cooperate, but sometimes, that's what makes memorable stories. We had snow flurries here at 686' elevation on Sunday...
We were in Sumpter last fall in the Outback, making the loop looking for ghost towns. Their version of ghost towns...
Actually, I think @jordanbrooks was the first to move his badge from one vehicle to the next. I just did it with more flair instead of simply running into a light pole stanchion. ;)
Nope, I like having my bookmarks, open windows, passwords, etc. all synced between my desktop, laptop, tablet, and phone, thanks. I used Firefox 15 years ago, after giving up on Netscape. :)
Ah, I'm on my desktop, so I would normally have seen it. But I have trouble reading pages with black backgrounds, so I have the alternate style set with a white background, so didn't even see the white text. :)
Welcome to the Overland Bound forum, @Zaq! Nice looking 4Runner!
There is a meet up planned in western Indiana in late June, if you are interested in meeting some other Overland Bound members. Here's the thread: Redbird SRA in Dugger, Indiana meetup and trail run
@NorthStar96 He's already got...
That would be spectacular! I guess the black box is only on the passenger side, which is where I happened to start. Apparently it wasn't on earlier models, where I saw the step by step on T4R.org. I might pull the bumper cover off, just to get in there. Some say it is easier to take that off...
