The chips on the 2730 are about the same as you described for the yeasu. I used a Weller WM120 12 watt iron with a very small tip to do it.

Doing the MARS mod is usually pretty straightforward. It depends on your confidence in the information you have and your own tools. Almost always the difficult part is just getting the radio apart enough to do it. Then it’s 15 seconds.
