now, back in the real world, welcome aboard! i had a 97 explorer for a long time, it would have been plenty capable for the stuff I’m doing these days. My current overlanding rig is a cop car.
I’m following a kind of similar strategy. I have basic stuff in thecopcar for nimble adventures with a tent. My teardrop had more, and complimentary gear. Both have power. I can carry water in either or both.
As an alternative to the Midland branded ghost antenna ($$), I use this on both of thewondertwins. Works for vhf/uhf ham, plus is has about 1.2 SWR at the gmrs frequencies.
