Mine is new, so all scheduled stuff goes to the dealer. Any modifications I do. Historically, I do all of my own maintenance, engine tear-down, etc, but when it comes to the innards of a transmission or specialty work (crank shaft grinding, engine re-bore, etc) I take the parts to the pros.

I like them a lot, but don't have anything to compare with. I only had the OEM tires on for an hour. :) Before that I had Geolandar A/T-S tires on my Outback, and these are about the same noise level, and those were P tires.

They have a bunch of how to videos on their web site that I watched, and sorta fiddled my way through. Check out this article. One year of Gaia Pro free upon request. I emailed them a couple of months ago, and it worked for me...
