    Alaska 2018

Not specific to your questions, but here are several threads pertaining to Alaska. Some have to do with planning and what to see during your travels. Some are completely unrelated, but it was easier presenting you with the list rather me picking which ones you might find helpful. Link...

Steve’s 2016 Toyota 4Runner Modification and Adventure Thread

The fellow who bought it said he was told to attach the whole assembly to the bottom of the RTT and *then* lift the whole thing into place. Doesn't seem particularly practical. Similar instructions for my Prinsu, but only attaching the two crossbars to the tent.

Steve’s 2016 Toyota 4Runner Modification and Adventure Thread

The side rails are the 4Runner's stock rails. The inserts are used instead of the factory optional crossbars. They are extremely sturdy. The owner is probably around 200 pounds, and bounced a little on just one insert. They are made by Rago Fabrication. If the original side rails were full...

Steve’s 2016 Toyota 4Runner Modification and Adventure Thread

Ah! Sorry, I misunderstood. Your current ambassador is @Ryan Matthes, but he is moving to South Carolina and will take on an Ambassador at Large title. Look for an announcement for the Southwest ambassador any day now!

    Offroad solar power suggestions

12V Cooler, or 12V Fridge/Freezer? Coolers typically draw 5A continuous, and only cool about 40° above ambient. So if your vehicle is 120° inside in the sun, the cooler will be around 80°. So, 5A at 12V is 60W. A 12V fridge/freezer will draw 2-4A intermittently, and cool or freeze to whatever...

    ARB Style Awning from Walmart

They were actually as low as $13 yesterday with free shipping! I read of dozens and dozens of people placing orders, many for multiple to resell. I expect this will not end in folks actually getting awnings on their door-step.
