I’ve done it. At room temp you’re lucky to get a half pound in them. Refrigerating them for an hour does marginally better. My best luck has been to put the empties in the freezer for an hour, then fill them. I’ve gotten about .8 pounds consistently that way.
I did find a failure in the varnish and a large wet spot in the wood, under the finish.
Fast forward a year. Cut tire has been replaced. And zits on the teenage teardrop. Lots of zits. Both sides are affected. Each is a failure spot in the finish, but that’s about to change.
