Hitting Eisenhower for a rare camping outting sans kids tomorrow-monday if anyone is going to be around. I'll be off and on the Sherman 2-meter repeater throughout the stay.
I use a couple of GoPros and two D800s depending on the project. I'm working on gathering a bunch of footage for a long term project, but this is an old video from my days as a motorcop.
I'm really worried about those cases, I don't think they'll quite be right for you. I can PM you my address so I can save you from such horrible cases...
Yeah, I know, but I'm just really digging the DeLorme's laptop setup and since I have the iPad mini and RAM mount on the dash, the other use would be handy. :sunglasses:
I use an iPad mini with a BadElf GPS antenna so I have true GPS connectivity, running the Garmin USA app for navigation and Topo with pre-downloadable USGS scans.
Pro: cheap if you have a tablet laying around (they make antennas for android based tablets)
Con: limited to certain apps, I wish...
I'm interested but would need to know the dates to have a firm idea if I could attend. It's wedding season and although I stopped offering wedding photography services due to time issues, I still have a number of them on the books to finish up.
All I can really say is that anything made by Cooper is very far from being on my list or on any tire list of a friend or loved one for the time being.
The van is a 2003 E-150 I purchased in June with 30,000 miles on it (yes really). I've put about 9,000 miles on it crossing Texas a couple of times so far.
My "real" job is in collision reconstruction, that was my expertise during my career in law enforcement. Tires are the tip of the iceberg, think of every "minor" traffic violation you might get a citation for. Things like low tire tread, speeding, rolling a stop sign, wearing a seatbelt under...
WAIT, that was a different forum group. Here is that posting so you can learn from it:
Lets take a moment and cover some ground when it comes to tire choices (pun half-way intended).
Tires aren't just a performance product for a vehicle, they are a safety item. Every major tire manufacture...
Remember what I posted about delams? Remember how I said that manufactures typically don't do recalls due to settling out of court and having the cases sealed to prevent further lawsuits and losses? Guess what, that tire has been recalled (certain DOT manufacturing ranges) due to delaminations...
Ever hear this old joke?
A guy showed up in New York City to see a concert and was lost after getting off the subway. He walked up to a guy play a saxophone on the corner and asked, "excuse me, how do I get to carnegie hall?"
The musician smiled and said "practice man, practice."
:sunglasses:
A good place to start is the idea that your first thought is to control the depth of field. That starts with your aperture choice, followed by focal length and your distance to the subject. The myth is that pro photographers only shoot in manual. That isn't true, outside of the studio many...
BBNP is the best I've found for "real" overland with backcountry camping sites that have destinations worth the effort (Ernst Tijana, Terlingua Abajo, Grapevine Hills, etc). Davy Crockett has dispersed camping and some dirt roads, but nothing that really goes to anywhere that I can find. In my...
I'm willing to schlep heavier lenses for the benefit of the photo. Everyone has a different level of expectations from their photographs. For some a cellphone shot is all they would ever care to have. For others they scoff at the very idea of doing anything without a large field camera and...
Side note, a D800 I own suffered a shutter failure. It went into error mode, locked up the mirror and prevented any more shots to prevent any further damage. Not a bad error fault design, really reasonable from an engineering standpoint. Anyways in slightly less than two weeks the camera was...
Installed a CB and Yaesu FT-2900r (best I could afford right now, I want a quad band...someday) on the shelf. The antennas are on the roof rack. 1/2 wave for the 2-meter, 5/8th wave for the CB and the "big" antenna (trucker antenna) for the Wilson cell phone repeater. Wilson and HAM on the...
