For me it depends on the source. I've used one for over 15 years in the Sierra's and have never been sick, my first one was when they were still under the PUR name. I just got the hiker pro two weeks ago for an earthquake kit specifically because I have faith in them, from a mechanical aspect...
Awesome, it's always worth a look so I'm glad I could help. The Armada is large, on-par with the Sequoia. I agree the Rover is super nice and clearly very capable, but it is smaller depending on your needs. Per Wiki the new Discovery's wheelbase is about 7-inches shorter than the Sequoia...
Got it. The Maze District out in Canyonlands is pretty epic, I'll throw a vote out for that. I've been twice and can't wait to get back again, there's just so much to see. You can basecamp in Moab and do a multiple shorter trips as well. There's a lot of technical crawling out of Moab but...
Hey man, great to hear about getting work done on the Jeep. Do you have some other logistics we can work off of? Does your friend have a vehicle also or would he be coming to you? Would he be willing to fly down to you, or are you specifically looking to travel individually to a meet-up...
I've got a similar one, their outdoor axe. I find it fantastic for small chores and tending fire. The steel is awesome.
I recently picked up the Max Axe after it was recommended from a friend in the military. Only used it twice but I like all the features, as well as the case for holding all...
If I may, why not use your 4Runner as the adventure rig and get something dedicated for kid hauling at home? With that many little ones I'd rule the GX out (as much as I love them) but that's me. Used 200 Series Cruisers can be had for $65k, probably looking at 40-50k miles on the odometer. The...
I was a stomach side sleeper until I broke my leg a few months ago, been struggling to sleep on my back with the cast so I can commiserate to an extent. In all honestly, there is a significant difference between a roof top tent and all other solutions. The solid, flat bottom of a RTT with a 3"...
In terms of most traumatic experiences it's got to be mud on a shelf/ledge road. Slid off one once with barely any camber to it and almost went over. Had two jeep's winch front and rear at the same time to get me out of that one.
I dislike ice but at least ice will usually make me stop and...
Spotted this article last night as well: http://www.mercurynews.com/2017/10/24/70-yosemite-entrance-fee-big-increases-proposed-for-parks/
Although an increase in entrance fee's would help on the individual park level, it's not going to address the fact that the park system as a whole is...
I left mine. I'm sure they'll get torn off at some point but until then I figure there's no reason to mess with it.
Are you thinking of painting over the filler or no? What I've usually seen is them welded-in and either painted or bedlined. The bedlining just over the wheel arches is probably...
So I set out to find the solution until I realized how long this list was.. I'm sure it's in there someplace! though:http://macgyver.wikia.com/wiki/List_of_problems_solved_by_MacGyver
..it all seriousness though, the tanks do tend to hang low on the 4Runner's, not sure about how it's set up on...
I second this. If you're sticking to 33's I wouldn't bother with a 3" lift, it will only increase the potential for more problems that cost more money, and you may find yourself in a rabbit hole of mods and bigger tires.
I personally find a mildly lifted jk with 33's a very appealing package...
Curious if anyone has recommendations for Baja Sur? My father lives in Todos Santos and we're planning a trip to go visit early next year. Overnight trips and points of interest in the southern portion of the state are welcome.
