1st Gen Honda CRV with 2" lift and 235/75/r15 tires and a skid plate, limb risers, custom roof rack and a winch. Relatively cheap, extremely well built and reliable, simple and easy to repair, very compact and light weight, excellent geometry, and a RT4wd system that will get you just about...
So I finally decided to hook up my CB radio. Eventually, I also plan to get a cheapo VHF programmed with the LADD and FSR channels, but I really like my CB and I'm curious if it will work better/be more popular in Alberta than mountainous BC, where its effectiveness is limited.
So I tried every...
On the subject of lifting the Dakota front end, I've been doin some thinks.
I looked into the strut spacers available for it. I found out that a 1.9" spacer equals a 3" lift due to suspension geometry, and similarly 1.25 = 2", 1.6 = 2.5"
I had previously concluded that I had a very large...
Oooooh, now I get what you're saying, thanks! We have a wrecker nearby who has a ton of old vehicles on his lot and is a very reasonable guy, so it's definitely something to think about.
Yeah, I gotta say, the four door model really makes hauling kids around much easier. The doors on the third gen open almost 90 degrees, which really helps too. Cheers!
Finished adjusting the bumper today, and although it's a bit gappier than before, and I believe the new bumper is slightly bent, I'm going to call it good enough for this old truck, at least until I can afford a steel winch bumper.
Wow, that's awesome. Those fender flares really remind me of the H3 or the Chevy Avalanche.
I love it. Sick looking 4x4. Nice and boxy like it should be!
Here's mine!

Same generation as yours, by the looks of it. I just finished repairing some deer induced bumper shattering, so it's looking even better now with new headlights. I'll be updating the build...
So I received all the parts last week for the repair and got started on it in earnest yesterday. Got decently well into it. I managed to get rid of the dent, rust gash and cracked paint from the driver side fender right behind the headlight:
Got the new headlight housings in and they look good...
1. What is your favorite kind of run? Do you prefer day runs, weekend camps, road trips, or long hauls?
My favourite is to do 5 day or more expeditions to ghost towns or other remote places, such as my 2018 Kitsault expedition, or the Northern Wanderings trip of 2021. Unfortunately I rarely have...
I like the second generation ones too, but I especially love the body style of the pre-facelift third gens like mine. The biggest challenge I'm running into is that there's basically zero aftermarket support for these nowadays. Rancho used to make a lift for the third gen, but those are not...
I gotta say, I'm really starting to love this truck. I've pulled like four random people out of the ditch already this winter lol I'm looking forward rectifying the front lift situation and building more on it.
Looks like I'll be getting a new bumper from the wrecker on the 4th of January, so...
Funny you should mention that, because I emailed a local fabricator for a quote...hehe. I don't think it's in the cards right now, unfortunately, due to financial constraints, but definitely on the list of desired mods.
Hey, thanks! I'll make Rumble pretty again, don't worry. If the price is right, I'm going for the steel winch bumper, but I have yet to hear back from the fabricator. Probably going to call them today.
Yeah, it's not the most glamorous story, but there's no cliffs near Edmonton so my choices...
So the next mod I did was to build racks on the sides between the uprights of the bed rack to hold the recovery boards and, on the opposite side, the axe and shovel:
Funny enough, I did this in order to clear up the top part of the rack for more cargo, or perhaps, someday, a rooftop tent...
Okay so several asked for a quick update on the tent when it arrived. Here it is in my garage waiting to be installed:
So far quite impressed with the quality of the build, especially given the amazing price. The mattress is perhaps a little on the thin side, but honestly doesn't seem too bad...
It's listed as on clearance, so I don't know if they'll keep stocking it or not. I will definitely post about it in my build thread and if there are any issues, I will for sure let you guys know :)
