You are so fortunate. I'm trying to figure out how to pay for one. I thought all I needed was an ice chest but the more I start planning trips, the more I can see this is better than ice. Taking a medium soft chest full of ice isn't a bad ideal but i love that I can bring more variety of food...
I would love to go out on the 26th. It happens to be my birthday. For once it would be nice to talk about offloading. Hopefully they sell cider wherever we are meeting. Not much of a beer person.
Some people use a horse shoe welded under the disc. I use a paella burner on legs. I just burned mine off last week using the paella burner and instead of the hot spot being in the middle, mine does a ring burn so I think it will be a bit more easy to cook on instead of the hot spot in the middle.
Man, you got a good grind on these things. I'd make another one if I could get my hands on a couple of more discs. Here in CA, you can't have them shipped from Tractor Supply so you gotta find a farm here that has them. The one farm owner who I got mine from won't return my emails.
That is nice! Mine is clean as I ground and sanded it but I didn't do too much to the back of the disc since that will be burned black from cooking anyway.
So is there a meet up for May planned? It's hard to see the invite with the meet up place on this forum. I've been coming by every couple of days so as not to miss the date and place.
The legs are conduit pieces that had the ends bent. The burner has peg legs that slipped on top of the conduit pieces test had a hole drilled in to match the hole on the burner. I used a bolt and wing but to tighten. He sides were uneven because I did a crap job of cutting the conduit with a...
Thread resurrection. I don't have $300 to spend on a Tembo Tusk (nice item for sure) so I found an 18" plow disc from a store owner who has an organic farm in Valley Center, CA. Cleaned it up with distilled vinegar. I paid a mobile welder to patch the hole up and cleaned it up with a grinder and...
I got mine put together. Just changing the legs I will be honest in that I don't have money for the Tembo Tusk and the Southwest Disc burning system was pricey for me. I don't have a shop and I don't weld so I made due with what I had. I live in a major city and I can find new plow discs but...
Just wanted to say welcome to you. You sure you want to take that nice Lexus out? I drive a JKU that is my daily driver(dd) so I have to be careful with it. Looking to take it out as I had it lifted last year but have yet to take it on it's maiden voyage. Need the front seals replaced first so...
I second that. I get out of work at 9:30pm so nothing during the week for me unless it's Monday night (no one goes out on Mondays). I have Sundays off and could attend if there were some on Sundays. I know people wheel on weekends so that would be hard.
