I do the same with old rail grades or remnants of mining operations. My Wife is forever shaking her head as I pull off a road or highway to explore yet another overgrown railed or (as she calls them) "another hole in the ground"

There is also the Old Cascade Highway between Christina Lake and Rossland. It was the main access road into the west Kootenays prior to Hwy#3, and is still maintained as a forestry road. It's a great and beautiful drive too.
We live in a dusty hot region of Canada (I know, hard to believe but true) Summer temps hit around 100*F or more and humidity is 0. I couldn't imagine off-roading without the windows closed and A/C on. Well actually, I don't have to imagine it. Prior to owning the Xterra, we owned a Jeep and...
Stop at The Sea Hag in Depoe Bay Oregon for the clam chowder. Hands down, best clam chowder I've ever had. I like the Pacific City area in Oregon as well, there are a few stretches of beach that you can drive on (which is just cool).
I carry 3 of these boxes in total. They stack well, and are secured in the rig. One for recovery gear, a second for dry food goods, paper towels, Tp, and the sort, and a third as pictured above.

We drove through Ouray last July and it was spectacular. We took the Alpine Loop up from the Mineral Creek trail up and over Engineer pass and down the other side. The scenery was breathtaking.
If you are looking for camp spot suggestions, we camped right here for the evening: 37.961507...
Our early-bird registration has been completed and we are stoked. This will be our first trip to the NW Overland Rally . Any time spent with like minded individuals is always good with me I figure. It's also cool to have an event such as this pretty much in our backyard (give or take a couple...
I've been looking at the Tepui for sure. I'll have the chance to check a few different brands out throughout this summer and then decide after that.

I've had a CVT Mt. Shasta for a year and it has been very good. A couple issues that have bugged me with it, the piping in the outer cover was too large to slide easily in and out of the slider. I bought a second slider so I could leave the cover on and the annex piping won't slide into that...
You could say I was destined to pursue the road less traveled. My maternal grandfather was an adventure and exploration and (dare I say) "overland" aficionado. As kids we would sit around the cabin they lived in and listen to him tell tales of his travels, stories of serving as a bike messenger...
Thanks for all the work so far. I'll pretty much commit to "going", can't really see any reasonable reason why not.
August 7th is a stat holiday for us, so I'll be able to look forward to a nice long 4 day adventure weekend.
I'm looking for somewhere to park my travel trailer in Newport, Oregon for the first week of July 2017. We will be towing it there, then wanting to leave it while we continue down the coast to a rental house in Bandon for a week. Then we will be returning to pick it up and stay at South Beach...
Ha. This past summer my Wife mentioned the same thing, that maybe a "commuter" vehicle for her would be a good idea. Now she has a nice sporty Mini Cooper S to drive and the Xterra gets more dedicated adventure love.
