My rack is approximately 19" high (It was almost dark) from top of bed on my Tacoma with 5 ft. long bed. It's also lifted about 3". I'm 5'10" and can just walk under it. And, actually the tent is almost even with the back of the cab and 4-5" over the tailgate.
Me and a blonde and a redhead...
What kind of quick connect looking thingy is that? Is that a modification or ....never mind, now I see what I'm looking at. I just ordered a five lb. tank should be here this week. Already got the hose for connection to 2 burner coleman.
I guess it depends on how far forward your rack and cross member for the forward tie-downs are. My rack over the bed is higher than most but if it wasn't I wouldn't be able to deploy the side window cover/canopy. As it is, I might have a problem with a roof rack and clearance for one of the...
Boat, swim, helicopter? Seriously, coming south it might be easier to go through Hatteras and take the free ferry to Ocracoke Island ...no wait, Cape Lookout is further south, can't drive from upper . There a a number of options from like Swan Quarter and Cedar Island. Will send PM.
Have you checked out the ferry service for Cape Lookout? Never been but I know some people that go in the Fall. They make reservations way ahead. They are coming from different direction though.
I have fished from Alaska to the Keys. Louisiana, Arkansas, Outer Banks, inshore, offshore, blackwater, mountain streams, ponds, lakes, mudholes. I'm not too picky. Just being there is the thing. Really wanted to fish England and Scotland when I was there a few year ago but too much else to see...
Them little ole gators wouldn't scare me. Those little guys are just sunning. They get a whole lot bigger than that. Small dogs and a stringer of fish is what they really like. Just watch that tail. That one in the middle could probably break your leg.
Roof rack makes it harder for the bear to come through the open sun roof! Been looking at some for my Tacoma. Good ones are asspensive! I need more storage for the stuff one doesn't need everyday or hopefully not at all (recovery gear) and stuff to lock down in pelican cases. Try to stay...
So I guess I'm going to have to post a picture to keep up my skills/ego.
I got this 48 oz. thermos with two screw lid at Walmart this morning while waiting to see if I was going to have a reaction to my covid shot. I didn't. $20 seems worth it. Double walled and stainless. @Road I will try...
Yep, I'm never truly happy unless I'm planning or in the middle of some adventure. I'll be in touch soon. BTW, like your web site. I had looked at it a couple of times in the last year. Well, got to go finish cleaning out my office...not exactly an adventure but a step towards it!
I'm sure others can give more clarification. But, near as I can tell, it varies from one location/NF to the next. Some places it forbidden unless it in a designated spot. I was recently looking at Black Hills NF and it looks pretty open to off-roading and whatever. Permit may be required. Who...
Just got my colador filters recommended by @Road and it does as advertised. As a kid, I never knew coffee was anything but instant! I'll have to look for that Jacobs. I'll try anything once. Time and place for anything. Just been trying a dark roast from the Charleston Brewing Co. Threw the...
Yes, bigger than I need but hasn't been a problem yet. The soft top was a little too much climbing around to be out in the middle of nowhere alone. I have a little aluminum stool but I get in a hurry sometimes and just used the tire to climb up. Coming down is a little more problematic. And...
Funny, As you were sending this message, I was getting my first covid shot. Monday is my last official day of work. So, I'm sitting on ready, waiting on go! Most of my friends are too tied to their present lives to share much of mine. They think I'm a loner because I go off on my own a lot. My...
They are really attracted to small animals so if you have a dog running around your camp then be careful and keep them away from the water. I did a summer internship down in Okeefeenokee NWR back when I was in college (way back). They were everywhere. A five foot gator is hard to hold with...
I've got a fold out hard top and it takes about two minutes to setup and five minutes to pack up. It's really bigger than I need but that hasn't been an issue so far. It takes me much longer to situate the bedding and put on my clothes/shoes, get the various stuff that doesn't stay up there...
That's about what I get with my '17 Tacoma. Fully loaded, maybe a bit less. Love your setup. May go to that sort of rig at some point. Don't let that thing get stolen!! How do you secure it when away from camp?
