    Cast Iron Pan Storage Solutions

I just found Camp Maid makes skillet totes similar to dutch oven totes. 3 sizes, the small sits my 10.25 Lodge and the large my 13 1/4. There is a medium as well. 3 packs available on Amazon but I bought mine from Camp Maid website as they have 25% off sale and free shipping.

RECIPES requested for 8" (4 qt.) Dutch Oven cooking

I am curious as to the brand-the Lodge 8 inch do is only 2 qts.

New build - JKU Rubicon or Diesel ZR2?

Since you specified light off road, besides the cool factor, the JKU Rubi seems overkill. I own the Jeep and have driven the Colorado. As a daily driver hands down the ZR2 wins. And if daily driver for mild wheeling why the mods you discuss? Both vehicles can run the Rubicon Trail stock so I...

    Camp Stove

I remain a white gas fan from my earliest days. I use a Coleman two burner stove I bought new 25 years ago. Replace the generator for the first time this year and runs like a champ. Doesn't look brand new by any means but would not hesitate to take it anywhere. I also have a MSR Whisperlite...

    Coffee Set Ups

Adding to my original post I am just looking back through and it really stands out to me that there is no perfect set up and the responses vary wildly primarily depending on the volume of coffee being made. As mentioned earlier I used a perc and now the Stanley press but that is assuming I am...

    Coffee Set Ups

I found the video a while back from Peet's coffee-I have used this daily since and think it works very well. I take coffee to work every day that I brew the night before and store in a Stanley Master Series bottle (another really nice but heavy piece of kit). They have videos for all kinds of...

Trying bread in the Dutch Oven

Definitely interested in your opinion of the new Lodge Cook It All. It looks very cool but with a full battery of Dutch ovens and skillets I am debating the need,....as if that drives my decisions!

    Garmin InReach SE+ at Costco

If anyone is in the market and a member of Costco they have the InReach+ on sale right now for $229-seems like a solid deal to me.

    Overlanding cook books

Perhaps not a camping cookbook but I really like Ron Berg’s “Northwoods Fish Cookery” for recipes using the species found in the upper Midwest. Ron ran The Gunflint Lodge for many years I believe. His Gunflint Lodge Cookbook is my wife’s absolute favorite cookbook.

Nesting pot set for large group (5-8 people)

Another thumbs up for the Magma set. I use the non-stick with the ceramic interior, not Teflon and they have been a real pleasant surprise to use and clean. I would be cautious using on a fire, at least with the handles attached, but I did use on my Firebox which worked just fine.

    Pressure canned meals

I think it is a great way to go along with home dehydrated foods (soups, jerky etc.) the capacity to make this stuff at home gives you ingredient control and a vacuum sealer completes the troika. Oh and did two pork shoulders on Friday. Combining canning and bbq is just genius way to keep this...

Trying bread in the Dutch Oven

Kent R- that is some excellent looking bread! I normally have one or two with me on every outing but use the 8 inch the most. It holds one box of Jiffy cornbread perfectly. I find that keeping the heat on the bottom lower as the bottom burning is the biggest risk in my mind. If you have never...

    Coffee Set Ups

I used a GSI stainless perc for a number of years as there are two of us drinking and I needed the capacity. A couple years ago I switched to the Stanley Mountain Vacuum coffee system that includes the pot, press and a thermos as a stacking kit. This is not small or light (I started with the...
