Yeah, they mostly use Baufung handhelds but they use them on GMRS channels. I actually bought them before I joined the club, so I lucked out. I bought them because I've got two Wranglers and my daughter has a Renegade and my son a Grand Cherokee. I've put GMRS in each of them and immediate...
I just don't have time to study for and take the HAM test. My Jeep club has moved to GMRS, so I've found plenty of use for it. If the HAM license didn't require a test, it might be a different story.
I put some new pads/rotors on my son's WJ, along with a set of rims/tires off a 2020 JL Wrangler Sport. I picked up all 5 for $300 when the guy upgraded to 33's and Rubicon rims. They only have 5k miles on them. They are Bridgestone Dueler AT's, so they are a nice upgrade over the old...
I put a set of Rigid Industries 4" 360 Series lights on my daughter's Renegade. They are fantastic and throw an amazing amount of light from such a small package. The backlighting is a neat looking bonus feature! She also was jealous of the Trail Rated badges on my Jeeps, so she one-upped me...
I am going to try and get the BC35 installed underneath this weekend. I'm dying to see how it does. I shared this idea with a Garmin rep in the Overlander division. I asked if they could flip the image for facing the camera forward. He said it won't do it now, but that a software change could...
Too bad. I saw some trash when I was there in October, but not a lot, so they either had a clean up or they are just using that as justification. The ruts were getting pretty deep in a couple spots, though, for sure. It was a beautiful ride through there and then up to Max Patch.
I doubt...
Also, the little squares in the defrost vent are little plugs I bought to direct some of the defroster flow to the outer edges of the windshield. Jeeps, even the newest ones, are notorious for blowing the hot air disproportionately to the center while not having enough on the outer edges. I've...
I added a RAM mount to the dash with a relatively inexpensive unit from Amazon. For 60 bucks, it included a two RAM balls, a RAM arm and a phone cradle. I used another RAM arm I had laying around for the Garmin Overlander. This mount allowed it to be lowered a couple inches compared to the...
I reinstalled Rigid Sideshooter flood lights on the cowl and hit the inside of the frame and other critical areas with Fluid Film for winter rust protection. Man, that stuff STINKS! Lol!
I take the Rigids off in the summer so I can fold the windshield down, and I put them back on for winter...
Do you have a BC 35 camera? Can it be mounted forward? I see nothing about this in the manual and it is surprising, since you can connect up to 4 BC 35 cameras. I'm hopeful the image can be corrected for front view and that it can be accessed on-demand.
I don't see the review yet, so I'm...
Sure! I've got a Magellan, too, and I'm less than thrilled with it. I did like it for snowmobiling in Michigan, though. Overall, it was a disappointment.
Garbage? I don't think so. Certainly Gaia and Ipad has some advantages, but the Overlander has a couple, as well, such as 3D topo, up to 4 wireless cams, and the easy interface with the Inreach. The magnetic mount is very nice, too. It also has a nice database of public land, as well.
If...
I've got a sunshade for my Magellan TRX7 that should work well with this. The screen seems reasonably bright, but direct sunlight will certainly be a challenge for it.
I just received an Overlander last night. Picked it up brand new on Ebay for $450. I wasn't going to be able to stomach the...
