Just don't start a fire. LOL Kidding. The Missouri Fire Towers are open and accessable. The one's that are not are fenced and locked. I would check with your local forestry folks for an official answer.

Glad you like it. Campground is on the river, 20 sites, 1st come 1st serve. Potable water available. Kayak rentals are available at Richards up the hill from the river. Have fun and post some pics.

Here ya go. Greer Spring, just north of Alton, Missouri. 220,000,000 gallons a day. Second largest in the State, and the largest spring on Federal Property in the United States. Helps feed the 11 Point river, part of the National Scenic Riverways, USDA/

You're almost right. Overlanding in my opinion is fulltime/long distance traveling in rough country and that's almost impossible for most folks.
Next time I see a "Camel Trophy" caravan in southern Ohio, it may change my mind. LMAO
