    Roaming Lost: 2022 RAM 3500

I have a Fourwheel Camper on my solid axle swapped '11 Silverado 2500HD. For the most part, it's fine. However, down Southeast of Joshua Tree I got into some sections that had heavy OHV (think RZRs) use. It created weird chatter bumps that were staggered left-right-left-right-left-right...

    Roaming Lost: 2022 RAM 3500

How are you finding the side-to-side chucking on the trail with the weight up high? -TJ

    Lifting a 4x4 Jeep WJ

Np. Also, I misspelled cardan in my first post. ;) If you get a good pic of your front DS I can ID it. -TJ PS- this is my WJ:

    Lifting a 4x4 Jeep WJ

Which 4wd system do you have (Quadra-Trac I, Quadra-Trac II, Selec-Trac, or Quadra-Drive)? The 4wd system you have, and year, determine what front driveshaft you have. It gets a bit convoluted, and the best way to figure it out is just to visually ID it. This should help: WJ Driveshaft...

    New cooking pots and pans

This set: Camping Cookware Set 304 Stainless Steel 8-Piece Pots & Pans I like that a lot. I paid a good bit more for what I use, and while I like it a lot I'm not sure it was "necessary." I added the colander/strainer thingy (which also works for steaming veggies) and if I nest that with it...

    Spare tire carrier

Yes, it's crazy expensive, but I love my RIG'd, and really it was still less than an aftermarket bumper + tire swing out. It's super solid, and swings nicely even with my heavy-AF 37x13.5-17". It's one more step anytime I want to get in/out of the camper while on the road (I obviously just...

    Big Rigs, Full Sized Only

I have a 3/4 ton, but I don't see why the same question wouldn't apply. Let me start by saying (and this is just my opinion, for what it's worth) do NOT count on fix-a-flat and/or tire plugs alone, you NEED a spare of at least matching diameter (roll-out is technically what matters, width...

How long have you run your tires on street with low PSI

What I was saying was incorrect is that the rating you see on the sidewall is the maximum psi you should ever have in your tires. It is not. It is the max *cold*. If you set your tires there cold you will certainly see above that number once you've run down the highway, but that is perfectly...

    1965 International Travelall Panel Build

Love it! Killer rig and it's always cool to see the 8.1 get some love. And heck, you can't beat an Allison. -TJ

Poll: Matching trailer tire size to vehicle tire size

I suppose I agree with if your tow rig and your trailer both have matching (size, not necessarily style) spares then you do not "need" the trailer and tow rig to match. However, if you follow the "two is one, one is none" philosophy you have two vehicles with unique spares carrying one each...

How long have you run your tires on street with low PSI

That is patently incorrect. The pressure listed on the tire is the max cold pressure. You absolutely can (and will) run higher pressures than that, if you set your tires there cold. I don't disagree it's the wrong pressure for *most* rigs/people, but it absolutely is the correct pressure for...

How long have you run your tires on street with low PSI

Good idea. When I was hauling heavy trailers all the time, especially behind 40k+ LBS 1600+ lbs-ft torque RVs I would hit the hubs on the trailer w/ a heat gun every stop. You could basically lock up a trailer wheel and never even notice in the RV... -TJ

How long have you run your tires on street with low PSI

It's all about heat. Lower pressures cause the sidewalls to flex (obviously, since that's why we lower air pressure, to lengthen the footprint and provide a better ride because of the sidewall flex) which generates heat. At slow speeds on the trail it's not an issue. At higher speeds, it...

Poll: Matching trailer tire size to vehicle tire size

When I had my SoCal Teardrop I set it up with matching wheels/tires (including an additional spare) for both my WJ, then later my WK2 Trailhawk. With the WJ that meant I had 2 spares, or for shorter trips I wouldn't take the one for the trailer, and would just have the 1 on my WJ's tire-swing...

    Big Rigs, Full Sized Only

Yeah, I cut mine a lot and still get slight tire rub on some of the inner support stuff for the inner wheel well liners at just the "wrong" combo of articulation and steering angle after the SAS: I'd be all for a clean bumper that got me room for a (big) winch, and maybe some additional...

    Big Rigs, Full Sized Only

I take it they don't make any winch-ready versions? I have a 2011 Silverado 2500HD and really want a good winch bumper, but I basically hate all of them (yes, yes, I know: function first but hey we're Broverlanders, looks matter!). -TJ

Going back to a Full Size for my Overlanding

Did a quick trip this Sat/Sun (I technically camped Fri night too, but that was at an RV park). I ran part of the New Idria Adventure Route from Overland Trail Guides and ended up camping Saturday night at Medeiros Primitive Campground on the ONeill Forebay (next to the San Luis Reservoir) when...

How much to spend on a Overlander?

I'm #3, or I guess #2 if the implication was that #2 "leaves all the gear on/in the rig." I leave my truck as setup as possible, because my time to Overland is very limited (often I just have 1 night). I try to leave my truck fueled up, and enough food/water etc. in the Fourwheel Camper that I...
