@leeloo yeah but theres alone, and then theres alone. When i used to live in LA id head for the mountains for the weekend. And i might see a few people, but id definitely see a lot of sign that people were in fact around.
BC is the size of Washington Oregon California Nevada and Idaho. But it...
I really like this idea. Because its not excluding any vehicle. Its just consolidating model specific information. Would also make vehicle specific questions easier to get answers for. Also parts sharing becomes a thing. I drive two fords. But i have six parts trucks kicking around. Someone has...
Friends keep asking me why i would try and take a 1 ton on back roads and trails. Why i would build a rig thats that big?
For me it’s simple. Range. And payload equals range.
Just my winch, recovery gear, tools and parts is 600lbs. 20 gallons of fuel and water is 300lbs. Two spares 150lbs...
I started overlanding on a 1976 honda XL350 with a back pack and two gallon fuel can. Then i got a stock 80s ford ranger and crossed the chilcotin plateau in it. Didnt even ise a road or trail for part of it. Straight overlanding. Lol
When i was driving crew cabs and longboxes for wildland firefighting. And came to a switchback I couldn’t turn the truck around to get up. Id usually just back up hill to the next switchback then drive forward up the section after that. Reverse cameras these days make it even easier.
Im feeling Blah in a different way today. I cant comment on IG rn because i told someone that they might have to “retard their engine timing” and got flagged for not meeting community standards. apparently context doesn’t factor in to discussions at all anymore. So i guess he’ll have to...
I have a canoe, river kayak and ocean kayak. But ive never brought them along on an overland trip. But ive been thinking about bringing the canoe or ocean kayak. I live in BC and we have a ton of lakes along the back roads and trails. I just didnt want to beat up the canoe bushwhacking and if i...
I like driving. For me it’s about putting on the miles. Im up with the sun and try and do 8 or 10 hours on the road. With quick pull overs for lunch and dinner. And I usually just pass out across the bench eat of my truck and dont even set up a tent unless im staying in one spot for a couple...
Ive swapped three front axles on the trail in 36 months. Lead foot + locker = new axle
All in the winter too. Apparently asking a loaded half ton truck chained up all the way around, to plow through five feet of snow in a Canadian winter, is in fact asking quite a lot. Lolz
Are you living out of a vehicle? Are you fulfilling that thirst for adventure and discovering whats just over the horizon? Are you challenging yourself? If you can check those off. Youre overlanding. How you do it or what you use to do it, is besides the point.
Wondering if anyone is interested in doing the pemberton loop and getting know other local Overlanders in the pemberton and lillooet area. The loop is from pemberton through goldbridge, across the dam, over mission mountain then through seton portage back to pemberton. Its a pretty easy run and...
When i lived in the city. BFG ko2 were great. They held up when my rig was my daily driver. Now that i live in a small town with mostly dirt roads BFG km3 are my go to. They clear mud and dry snow really well. And on ice i just chain up. However they do wear down fast if youre on blacktop everyday.
