Who carrys a firearm with them while camping?

That started off in Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade when the bad guy chose the wrong chalice and the guardian said he chose...poorly. After that, Indy, obviously chooses...wisely. How I met your mother plays off of that geekdom

Who carrys a firearm with them while camping?

Bear with me please, I havent read the whole thread yet. And I mean the following respectfully. However it struck me ass odd that you started a thread asking who carries a FIREARM and then proceeded to explain that you carry an AIR gun and nobody should ever carry firearm x. Then, still on the...

Overlanding alone first time need advice.

I think this is a great answer. Though I've not driven through a desert for any appreciable length of time, the idea a "system" and of checklists appeal to me. By all means, remember as much as you can, but the checklist doesnt lie, and a system ingrains tasks into routine, so theres less likely...

Overlanding alone first time need advice.

Teach the wife how to drive...? Um...Y-yikes! Yes, you added 4 wheel drive, but she may actually already know how to drive. I dont think the OP mentioned either way. The reality, obviously, is yes, anyone in the vehicle should know how to drive it.. just got a chuckle taking it out of context.

    2006 GMC Sierra aka “granopy”

I said the same many times about my 1994 Chevy Blazer k1500 Silverado. Then one day, I thought I'd had just about enough of dogged repairs a d sold it. Now I wish I never had sold it. A couple, maybe 3 grand into it would have gone a long way. Glad you are keeping it

    Rated recovery points?

Yeah. I'm on the GMT400 site, even though my last one went away a couple years ago. Such a great platform. A good mix of truck, comfort, simplicity and customizability. Those 5.7's dont like to quit

Who here plans Overland trips around Fishing?

I'm on the east coast, and yet have done very little Salt water fishing. I do much more fresh water, for some reason. Maybe that's because I used to live on a lake. And a little ice fishing. Christmas before this last one, a friend gave me a starter fly rod set. I've been once, but would like...

    READ ME !

I find it amusing that there isnt a single Jeep pictured the cover of any of those "Jeep Trails" books. Land Rovers, Ford Broco, even a K5 Blazer, but not a Jeep to be seen

New England Area Trail Rides / Car Camping

Out of curiosity, how many among us feel that it is sometimes difficult to get a cohesive group together for a ride, but we may be able to set up a "wrench-fest" thread. You know, whoever has a garage, we get together and turn some wrenches with whoever of us shows up and needs a hand with...

What is your go too overlanding photography kit/setup? What is in your Camera bag?

I used to take photos for work - not the way @Road does, but more for insurance damages and such. Back in the early days of digital photography, the courts still would not accept digital into evidence, so I was "stuck" with older film cameras. My cameras 20 years ago were old even then, but...

Re-name The Jeep Cherokee And Grand Cherokee....

Mine wasn't quite clear either. Obviously you can TM something with the Cherokee name in it. It just has to be a product, symbol or service

    On/Off road tires recommendations

Are they manufacturing the old compound along with the new, and you just have to know to ask? Or...what happens when they run out of the ones with the old compound and they aren't making anymore?

    Hatchet or machete?

I agree a saw is safer. Less waste as well if cutting firewood

Are U.S.A and Canada really the mecca of the overland?

Well why didnt ya say so?. In that case, the US and Canada? Yes, please

Are U.S.A and Canada really the mecca of the overland?

While North America has the Mississippi River, the Grand Canyon, Yellowstone National Park, the High Plains and the Rocky Mountains and so much more, I've never been west of the Mississippi. I imagine those are all great places to visit and I plan to find out this May. The US is more well known...

    Hatchet or machete?

This has been my typical assessment as well. I have a cheapo, local Army Navy store type machete, and I have an Estwing solid steel 14 inch "Sportsman's Axe" hatchet with leather wrap handle. Love it. How can one tool be heavy and robust enough to be a hatchet, and thin and light enough to be a...
