RC Toys / Drones / Crawlers

Building for me is more fun than actually driving the rigs. I have been looking at the Axial SCX10 Builder Kit as a starting point for my next build. My problem is there aren’t very many hard bodies out there. The polycarbonate bodies don’t take kindly to thrashing, they lack details, and...

My take on a bed rack - now with 270 deg awning mount

I’m glad to see you are still going to be building this. I don’t know much about TIG, but it looks like you are moving the toungsten too fast. The stack of Coins should be a rainbow color.

RC Toys / Drones / Crawlers

I build all of my mods... so far mods include a warn M1200 winch (that actually works via RC), tube doors, bumpers, working swing away tire carrier, limb risers, and a few other things. I used to scratch build 1:32 model cars, so I just bring my scratch building to the 1:10 RC realm.

If you ever have broke on a trail you NEED THIS !!!

The Ready Welder II is a veteran owned company and made in the USA with prices starting out half the price of the Karnage Welders. And it’s used in the professional world as well as by the us military where I used it in Afghanistan to weld a MRAP control arm back together. I’ve used the...

    CB Radio questions

the CB wave length is apx 11 meters long (433 inches). An antenna needs to be at least 1/4 wave length long which equals 108” long... you can make a compromise antenna by making a 1/8 wave antenna that is loaded. Which then would be 30” long (lil will)

    CB Radio questions

That’s about as small as you can go... but that’s also why I suggested it... appropriate for the age of your rig, and it’s magnet mount, so it’s not there when you don’t need it.

    CB Radio questions

Look at the Lill Will II by Wilson . Cheap antenna that gets surprisingly good results paired with a Uniden 510pro. I have made some good DX skip contacts on this setup in a 1967 GW.

    GMRS vs. HAM

Those GMRS units are a lot smaller than the radios pictured... the Kenwood is a 110 watt Comercial Radio, the radio in the back is an Icom IC-7100 100w all band UHF/VHF HF rig... both have remote faces. The Yasue FT-400XDR is 1/4 the size of the Icom... and the Yasue FT-300 is almost as small...

    GMRS vs. HAM

I have mine in the rig at all times, I just pull the head unit and lock it in the glove box.

    Access card denied

Bupa and I worked through this issue. I called the park in question and they are a third party host and do not honor ANY discounts (Veterans, Good Sams Club, Kamp America, AAA, let alone the national park access passes. They do not have to honor the pass, and that is why the back of the card...

CB radio channel selection works as if by magic - does anyone have any advice for me?

A quick search shows that the Up/Down buttons don’t work on the Midland 120: MIDLAND ALAN MR 120 CB RADIO MICROPHONE 48 78+ 121 220 6 PIN ORIGINAL MICROPHONE FOR CB RADIOS ALAN SERIES 48, 78, 121 AND 220. FOR MIDLAND ALAN MODEL 121 MICROPHONE DOES NOT SUPPORT THE CHANNEL DOWN.

    GMRS vs. HAM

These are two full sized radios fit into a 18” dry box with enough room for a power supply and antenna tuner... my cobra 29ltd will fit on top of the power supply when I finish my project here in another couple of hours.

    GMRS vs. HAM

You still need the GMRS license and need to stay off the FRS frequencies with a mobile radio, because mobile radios usually put out way to many watts even in low power. Now I say most Mobile radios... the Icom IC-7100 for example can push out 1 watt of power on the 70cm band. But that is 2...
