    U.S. Park Pass

Sadly it was not the "founders" who set aside these jewels. I may be parsing words here but just to clarify: It took until 1872 for the first park to be declared, by Ulysses S. Grant. Another reason I admire him, flaws and all. Even then, it took almost another 20 years for the next US park...

Budget Rigs for 10K and under?

Yeah I did a simple 2 inch lift with Iron Rock Offroad springs, pro comp 9000 series shocks. Moog sway links and new spring perch isolators. That all exposed a weakness in my old drag link, so I swapped that whole assembly out and damn if that thing didnt steer and take bumps nice and tight...

Budget Rigs for 10K and under?

-The Jeep Cherokee XJ is legendary. -The Jeep Grand Cherokee ZJ (1st gen) was originally slated to be the replacement for the XJ and is near as legendary -The Jeep Grand Cherokee WJ is also a great choice. Look hard enough and you find very nice examples for $5k. Just make sure to service...

    My rant for the day...

Ive I've seen other forums that dont allow promotion of your own products or YT channels without express permission of the forum owners, and getting that is rare. I admit, when I see someone touting thier channel for the purposes of selling me something, it's a turn off. When I see YT...

    U.S. Park Pass

Ah. Pardon me. Unfortunately I'm not sure if you can get the military ones at REI and avoid the handling cost. If I find out I'll post

    U.S. Park Pass

If you visit 3 national parks or more per year, it pays for itself (the $80 one, yes). Even more so if you camp at the park-run camp grounds, where the card can get you 40% off. So, Cedar Pass in Badlands, but not at KOA, see? You still get decent bang for your buck out here in the east...

    U.S. Park Pass

Go to REI and they sell them in-store on the spot. Been 80 for the last few years anyway

    Campground Insanity

Allowing the kids to wander free is just part and parcel with camp, I think. As kids, in the summer, we were told to be home when the streetlights came on. There are a lot of complaints about helicopter parents and kids not being outside playing and adventuring on thier own so I wont down...

For those of you than run your fridge daily, what is the best power configuration you've found?

I'm having a real hard time saying it. And nobody else has said it either, which makes it tougher on me. Do we not see it? If your refrigerator is running...you'd better go catch it! I'll be here all week. Tip your waitress.

    Scottles Worth the Price?

What is this "leftover meat" of which you speak? We try to have no leftovers overnight when camping. But that sounds good for home. My girlfriend puts left over bbq into her black beans. Wow

    Sleeping

Thinking about an awning with mosquito net walls. For now we sleep in a ground tent or in the bed of my truck inside the Leer camper shell

    Sticker Rules

Not sure OP is talking about brands so much as locations - at least, that's how I read it. If so, I was thinking about the same thing. I think the average bear just puts location stickers on the vehicle and if they junk it those are gone and they start fresh with the replacement vehicle...

How do you cope when you're stuck at home?

Yes. Theres always more upkeep that could be done. Went to start my truck the other day and there was quite a rumble from lower, center/right under dash. Turned the truck off. Turned it back on than the rumble had gone away but no blower motor at all. Drove home with the windows open. When I...

How do you cope when you're stuck at home?

High Ballers. Actually I'm in the office 5 days a week at 100 miles round trip, so my weeks are full. Weekends I always think of places I want to go and half the time it oh, it's so and so's birthday and such. We've had very little fun truck travel this year, although we did hit Acadia in...

2400 miles New England 4 day weekend!

And, um, no sir. Boston is not van, truck, car, or even pedestrian friendly. Took a job well outside of town and if I never have to set foot or wheel in Boston again, I'd be OK with it I think. Not that I dont love it. Ok, I will MINIMIZE how often i go there. I just choose to live and...

2400 miles New England 4 day weekend!

That's a nice drive. Lots to see, pretty country. And it looks like a nice big comfortable ark to drive it in! Love those Econoline 4x4 conversions! Having been to all those places I can appreciate the spots you showed and the many you had not. We were just up Acadia the weekend of May 20th...
