I installed 2 new batteries last night. The old factory ones were about 3 years old, and I think the cold was taking a toll on them. I wanted to upgrade to deep cycles but wasn't able to find the right group size for my truck.

I like the pinch/sandwitch type of mounting to the frame the best. I have seen sliders welded to the frame that took a pretty hard hit to the mounting bar and torn the frame base...

Thanks for the info. I definitely think that the solder is necessary. Without the solder any moisture will eventually cause corrosion and then result in a poor connection. Cheap insurance!
