Learning to wrench for field repairs and DIY installs

Last time I saw the east coast was February 2013 when I looked in my rear view mirror, and I have no desire to go back and live… however, there are a few places I would like to visit in Mass.

    Very bad day

Jeep’s have a problem with the Knock Sensor going out. Your description sounds just like a faulty knock sensor, or camshaft position sensor (also very common on Jeep’s). Unfortunately both require replacement of the sensors…and both are a PITA to reach. My suggestion is to sound out an...

If you had to pick just one to start…

Coms in an emergency: Neither if you’re not wanting to put in the time to learn the skills needed. UHF (GMRS) frequencies don’t travel as far as VHF (2m) frequencies which still don’t travel as far as HF frequencies. UHF expect about 25-50 miles with peak conditions, add high/thick vegetation...

    Some kudos and a question

The Map on the website will match the map on OB1 in time, as Conner said, right now every effort is being dumped into the OB1 app first. Once the app is finished the web site will be made to look like the app so that there is a seamless integration between the two. Rumor has it that the map...

Learning to wrench for field repairs and DIY installs

Those of you whom have been fallowing my Bronco build, you already know that I did 99% of the work with a simple set of craftsman hand tools. The rest of the special tools I either had from when I was a professional, or I picked up along the way of the build. The only specialty tool I don’t...

AutoCAD / Concept Drawings for a (2008+) 2010 Caravan Camper / Vanlife / Travel buildout?

Sketchup has a great extension called 3-D Warehouse. 3-D Warehouse is a tool for sharing SKP files (similar to AutoCad, but a lot cheaper, and most times free). I bet you could find something in the 3-D warehouse.

    The Tri-Cities Clubhouse

If you get the cable and download Chirp, I have the whole PNW file I can send you. Or if you want to try a hand at it yourself, I can walk you through the steps to populate Chirp and load your own program into your radio… which would be better for when you upgrade later on.

    Swapping Hubs?

Hub swaps on a trailer is super duper easy… you just take off the Toyota hubs by removing the lock nut, lock washer, and torque nut. Boom the hub slides off… next grab your Jeep hub and reassemble in reverse order… the torque nut is the tricky one, spin the hub counter clockwise as you tighten...
