You're on the right track!
You know what they say, "Anything worth doing, is worth over doing!"
The motor is a 2002 GM 8.1L 496 c.i. and the transmission is a2006 Allison 1000 6 speed 4x4.
I figured this combo would get her down the road and up the trails pretty good.
I will be doing a couple...
Hey all,
Today started the "Collect Parts" phase of the build.
Remember when I mentioned an LS swap, Well....That might have morphed a bit.....
Any smarty pants out there that wanna let everyone know what we are looking at?
Hey all,
I've got a new rig build underway so it's time to part with my current setup.
HERE is a link to the rack build.
For sale is a custom built Overland Rack. This is EVERYTHING you need to turn your Truck into a Camp Ready Rig. We will unbolt it from mine, and bolt it to yours.
This fits...
One of my pet peevs is when parents limit there children by saying things like “when you get older” or “their not ready for that”. If they show an interest put it in front of them. I am proud to say that my youngest son welded the replacement floor pans in my old Scout when he was only 10 years old!
I love that your youngsters have been exposed to the outdoors and have rigs to call there own.
I have tried to follow a similar path with my kids. I bought my youngest a 92 4Runner as a project when he was 13ish. We have wrenched on it since. Now it has been handed over to him and his new wife...
Welcome to the crew! Your gunna have a great time wrenching on the Burb. My “new to me” international also has the constant oil change feature and loves marking its territory.
Get that thing road reliable and then we will work on helping you build it into yours and @MrWilsonWJ dream rig!
Hey all!
I am visiting from Washington state. Work has brought me here for a couple of months. I would love to meet up with some local members. I am staying in Port Gibson but more then willing to drive. A weekend overnight would be awesome!
I am still working in Portland but I will make an honest effort to get there. Will have to check with the wife but I think we are going to ski Batchlor the week before so it may work for me.
Hey J.R.
Welcome to the crew!
My story is similar to yours. I still have my 1998 XR600R that is plated. But like you, I have discovered that my body is less resilient than it used to be. So, I have over the years transitioned to a more compatible vehicle. Actually I am currently building a...
Hi Jay. Welcome to the crew.
The Ali-cab is gunna be sweet.
I am over the river from you in Kennewick. We will have to get together some time. In the meantime check out the Tri-cities Clubhouse. A great group of guys in there.
Let me know if you have any questions or need help with anything.
Got all 6 Spicer U-joints pressed in.
I also just ordered all new seals for the front and rear pinions, rear main engine seal, and the front and real transmission seals. Some I can pick up at Napa today after work and a couple will be sent in the mail.
I spent this long weekend rebuilding the driveshafts. Several u-joints were in pretty rough shape, and anybody who really knows me knows that I can’t just replace them without going all the way.
I started by knocking out the old joints and cleaning the shafts to bare metal.
Then a good...
So my plans are to turn heads……as I bomb down the trail in it!
In my opinion these trucks are meant to be used. Sure, I may take the “go around” trail if it gets to risky, but, I’ll be damned if I put all of that work into a mall crawler show car and don’t use it as it was originally intended.
Yeah, I definitely plan to do a full rewire. I did that to my old scout using all weatherpac (GM style) connections. As soon as all of the mechanical issues are done I will focus on the electrical. I did notice a section of household extension cord running from under the dash to the rear of the...
This is my second International. I had a Scout II that unfortunately I wrecked in 2015. I always knew that I would get another International. They were so ahead of the times.
I am looking forward to getting it out on the road.
So over the last few weeks i have moved the rig into a dry storage. I am working in Oregon so i have it here with me so that I can take care of the needed issues to get it back on the road.
Currently I have the fuel tank pulled, I removed all 3 drive shafts, and will pick up the master cylinder...
