Actually @PBDNavigate yes and no on bear spray, turns out it only really works on bluff charges much less so on charges that are actual aggression. It has to do with the nature of the charges and how bear physically reacts, the bulk of charges, over 95% I believe, are bluff charges. In a bluff...

@phlfly yes at least so far but they are a bit complicated, only 10 rnd magazine. I have only seen the basic carbine for sale, so there may be issues with more "tactical" variants
Man can we keep the politics out this, the US and Canada are 2 vastly different countries. Firearms law in Canada is largely driven by eastern urban dwellers who have never handled any type pf firearm. They have a very misguided opinion thanks a "progressive" press, anti-gun groups and...
Last year 1st year I competed as a co-driver, met my driver during the briefing for the 1st event, he drove to Vancouver from Calgary. We won which was very nice.
Runs every year (normally) between Washington, Oregon and BC.
Got a nice Trophy and Fiskers splitting axe too
I agree with @Billiebob reserve the ferry go to Horseshoe bay and head towards Whistler /Pemberton. But expect heavy traffic, it has been nuts in the lower mainland the last few weeks.
Some small advice stay away from Harrison Lake, it is a gong show most long weekends and has been way worse...
Must be the year for it we even have a warning out in BC and our population of Rattlers is small and protected, interior of the province only. Pretty rare to see one normally.
@Kvocal yes to disposable they are just grounds, filter and card. Toss them in the fire or with your other bio-degradable material The sample set I bought from another vendor was very nice coffee.
I talked to some the ladies who competed last year at the BC Overland Rally -
map and compass have it down pat
Reading contour lines
Relating map to ground
Shooting bearings
Triangulation
distance estimation both via odometer and without
time management (time to travel a said distance...
Could you put an extendable pole in there to lift the center, seems like a bad design if it lets' water pool there. Or a small round pole that would create a center ridge line
@grubworm bad coffee is the worst, that's why there are so many coffee snobs. I can remember as a young corporal making coffee in a percolator, brought my own single burner stove. And suddenly the SSM and Squadron (armored recon) Co showed up cups in hand. I was very popular when the squadron...
@Supernaut that is a good point on gutter mounts you do not want cheap, and you need to check them fairly often. Having said that My Front runners have been solid for 2 years.
@Vince Rothermund enjoy your LR3 our group has a few that come out and they all do very well
Here is some motivation for you the road is there in the 1st video
This was my thought process on an RTT as posted on another forum
I have an 04 Discovery II
As result of last summer's excursions I found me, my gear, and sleeping platform inside is not ideal for long trips. So the start of this is the great roof top tents search, I have no issues with ground...
I missed this trip, but apparently it was a fairly epic 4 days.
Bridge over the Fraser River at Gang Ranch
Mud Lakes "Road"
We had a wet spring and early summer up here in BC
The trick to percolators is low heat, just enough to boil the water. Once the coffee is done very low heat once you get the hang of it they work well, but a pour over is simpler for a couple of people
