One is none and two is one. Everything fails. If it’s your self recovery gear then you can get yourself into a real bind in a hurry.
I travel alone most of the time so I don’t have the benefit of help from another rig. I have had winches fail me in the past as well as hand winches and even...
Got a H1 roof rack and customized it to work with a soft top hmmwv. Next stop is a 4l80e so I can cruise at highway speeds like the cool kids.
Also put in a rear cargo divider and the requisite high lift jack.
Started working on a roof rack. Hope to have it mounted up by the weekend and start wiring on some lights and weld in a permanent mount for the high lift and a pioneer tool kit.
Take a digital monitor with you for your sleeping area and use a buddy heater or similar type with a 20lb bottle stored outside the tent. You will be safe from carbon monoxide and toasty warm. It’s worked for me for years.
I have a little battery powered monitor I got on amazon and it goes on...
It’s definitely a concern. The traffic volume on the roads the first month of gun season is going to increase 100 fold. Because of the increased traffic the roads will be worse and certainly more sloppy.
The bigger concern is the dramatic increase in people who think because they have hunted...
This may not be the best forum for your question but I will hive you my opinion.
If you are going to stick with stock power under the hood I would go with D44’s if you can find a set. They are plenty strong and with upgrade axles and a truss you will be good with 37’s.
You can also consider...
I have two full sized rigs. One is full sized and long the other is full sized and wide. One weighs in at a tad over 9k and one at just under 5,500.
My daily driver and glamping rig that takes the wife and kiddo on the longer hauls is a 2017 f-250. I am really just getting started building it...
I am one of those those guys that takes on WAY to many projects with not enough time to do much of anything.
I have two dueling projects going on. Neither of them is moving fast as life and a two year old are taking their toll.
Project 1 is the tow pig. I am prepping it for some “glamping”...
If you are going to use a hard shackle, and there are definitely times and places to do that, do not skip on a Chinese made shackle. I only buy Crosby brand for a reason. I have worked with them for years and they are all built to last plus they will far exceed the WLL stated on the shackle.
Make sure you have some grippers. It's going to be a little slick when you get close to Wynona. The road was hard as a rock when we did it but it has been raining lately. Shoot me an email if you want the exact places it's going to get a little muddy. I saved them on the GPS.

Are most of the roads passable in a jeep? I have purchased the Mississippi hill country loop from Sam and it's all passable in a truck. We did a few legs of it as time allows.
Some of the videos I have seen show some single track that would not be passable but I don't know if it was on the...
I haven't seen a thread to share info and maps about our favorite places to ride around the Southeast.
Everyone help everyone else out.
I am in the process of converting all of my files so I can share my GPS logs of the best rides I have been on that are on public land.
Where is your...
I can't tell you how many times I hop into the jeep to go on a trip and was low on fuel. I use it around the house quite a bit so it doesn't get to the fuel station regularly. This sounds basic but it needs to happen.
