This was probably the best walk around video yet, time to do more budget walk arounds!
The über projects(super models) are fun to look at but these budget ones (the girl next door) are much more inspirational and useful to gather ideas from!
Lakes Basin Recreational Area (north of Truckee) a few weeks ago.
Gold Lake 4x4 campground was just an hour or so from Packer Lake via 4x4 trails. (pretty easy going)
Heading out from the back of Plumas State Park leads to miles of trails and adventure.
Nice!
Its not really going to need a lot extra bits aside from rock sliders and a stronger front skid plate.
My Trail has already been some crazy places you would not think a stock 4R with KO2s could go.
I loves me some MNF too. Good overnight spots are Deer Valley Campground, Letts Lake and Lake Pilsbury (multiple campgrounds there).
I want to go to Plasket Meadows Campground also but haven't made it all the way there yet.
Welcome to the club! I loved reading about your experiences growing up wheeling, its hard to get much more pure than that.
Grass Valley is a beautiful area too!
"Limited to about 60 vehicles".
This is really going to make this year's event a lot more personable, for those that make the cut. It sounds like Off The Grid is a victim of its own success. Although, after looking at the videos from lasts year's monster-sized event I think Michael and Corrie...
Wet heavy snow seems insurmountable for me.
Right after this picture I got pulled out (yea!!), and right across a huge manzanita bush just out of view to the right (boo!!). Now I've got a nice collection of Sierra Pinstripes on the right side.
Mine looks like this: I leave the back half with the drawer in all the time and only take the front half of the platform when I'm going to sleep in there.
Summer time does sound warm.
Do you like to climb rocks? Even half heartedly? The rock formations are super cool to explore or climb on if you like. There are trails leading all around in between the rocks. I was surprised by how much wildlife is in the immediate area. Little rabbits and lizards...
Funny, I bought the Trail Premium with the faux leather for exactly the same reason. My 3 dogs can get the seats all wet and muddy and all I have to do is wipe them down with a damp cloth and things are sparkling clean again.
EDIT: this thread needs some more pictures:
