I have been running the Coopers for about 10 years snow 1st on a R50 Pathfinder now on my Discovery II in BC. I have found them to great in the wet messy stuff that passes for snow here, up to about 12 inches they are fine but they start to struggle as it gets deeper and after a thaw freeze...
A radiator grill cover for my Discovery II, which is a bizarre purchase as they generally run hot. But mine is setup perfectly for hot summers and runs a bit cold 168 to 174 as temps get below 40 F. I do not want to mess with the thermostat so this is a simpler fix.
A factory 14 in barrel 870 clone 12 Gauge, only 5 shells but it is small and tucks in behind the seat just fine. I carry everything from bear slugs to small game loads.
It is largely a piece of survival equipment, always in rarely used.
Back on Nov 11 I was looking at some of the old photos - pre-cellphone of my old regiment. There are very few of any of us, but they brought back some fond memories of members who have since passed, mostly in their late 50's.
Thought I would share this one Yakima Washington - 77 - I am the...
Because I am older, and grumpy today - AR's would be fine up here and were for years. But we have a political party whose ideology is no Canadian should own any firearms and they use US events to push that agenda the AR and handguns are a favorite target for their propaganda.
That is just so...
For the fellow in the US parts are often available, but shipping to Canada is both slower and more expensive than shipping from the UK go figure. It appeas both UPS and Fedex ship ground to Canada at a higher cost in general. Parts from the UK ship DHL air to Vancouver it takes 5 to 7 days...
Well I feel the pain I own a Land Rover Discovery II, any Land Rover models prior to the D2 parts are actually not bad to find but the D2, can be really tough. I mostly order from the UK, but some bits are LHD specfic and a bit hard to get.
I do not have a dog, but every morning at breakfast when I am out with my local rover group I have many. Apparently bacon is an excellent dog attractant, even if they can not have any.
@genocache interesting thanks for the info. We did have another new defender which had no issues. I will note I did note assist in the recovery just getting the owner, to a hotel where he had solid internet to get things sorted out.
Still feel bad about having to leave the truck up there...

Leo and I were on our week-long off-road camping trip with a few other Land Rover folks in mid July 2023. The weather was hot and dry. We were traveling toward the Kootenays to explore some old mining roads...
Even if I get out for day, I enjoy myself. It is quiet, just me my truck and universe. And best of all because it is BC, 20 minutes up the FSR no cell service I get to completely disconnect.
@DintDobbs @MOAK I found the LR thing quite funny, I have met those guys in every rec hobby I have. But to the LR comment, we left this guy on the top of a place called Sugar Mountain. 2020 Defender had a massive steering rack failure, you can see his tires do not point the same way. 1st...
I yoyo between light and heavy, in my 20's very light now in my 60's heavier. It is the comfort things and, the just-in-case extra clothes, blankets, food, pup tent, hiking pack that add up. As I am often well out of everything but satellite range, and that can be iffy in mountain valleys...
I suspect they used something similar to one of these 12 Volt Heating Blanket and 12v Heater or a 12 volt heated mattress pad. They are mostly used in the trucking industry but mostly like a heating blanket to keep you warm while sleeping. I have my doubts but keeping warm if you need to be...
Good sleeping bag and some extra blankets as noted. I am north of you in BC, a small battery operated fan to pull air out really helps with condensation.
If you are looking for heat the chinese diseal heaters work very well - but you then need a battery to run it. A Jackery 240 will run...
